3/1/07 Bush quote. He sets a new low.
GWb in New Orleans today.

"Sometimes it is hard to see progress when you are living
at the scene." Then he twitched smiled and blinked. After
which he said something about that the progress he liked to see
was touchdowns by the NFL's New Orleans Saints.

Of all the heartless and unthinking statements he could have said. :grr:

Katrina's aftermath is just like the disaster @ Walter Reed we have leaders
who don't care or can't be bothered to do their jobs.

1. Why do they still let him come into their State?
Can't they just uninvite him or something?

3. We have to put up with his photo ops or he will shut the set down
And we live on the set, so....

Sucks, but nothing we can do...No one dares protest....it falls on deaf ears anyway, and if we alienate him, the city could well die before a Democrat could ever take office, and with Holy Joe refusing to hold his feet to the fire, there is no pressure for him to improve performance here.

10. I'm so sorry, youngdem.
 It shouldn't be like that at all, but somehow, I'm not surprised. x( It seems like there is no level of manipulation, lying, and just plain bullying that this administration will not sink to in order to maintain what control they have left. Is there anything we can do?

5. "He sets a new low."
And that's saying something, given with the already rock-bottom standard that's been set.

9. I wish he'd admit he's been on acid all this time
I wouldn't feel so bad about my President if I thought he was drugged out of his mind. That would be better than just considering him to be an unthinking, unfeeling creep.

12. Here's even more empathy and compassion:
You know, it's interesting to come back down here to the Gulf Coast. I tried to think back about what it was like the first time I came after the storm hit. And I guess the -- my most vivid recollection is the piles of rubble, literally debris stacked upon debris. It was -- it's hard to believe then that I would be -- I had faith that I'd be able to come to a home, but I had trouble visualizing. ---George W.Bush, at the home of Cheryl and Ernie Woodward, Long Beach, Mississippi, March 1, 2007

14. he is one articulate son of bitch.
I heard him on NPR around 4:00 PM and he said something about
"I give checks to the local folk and they are responsible for making
things happen and ah ah ah ah ...... "

It was pure gibberish.

The federal government's role has been to write checks. The Governor's role and the Mayor's role is help to expedite the federal money to the local folks. And today, we are able to sit in a homeowner -- the word is "home." Again, one of the things I like to say is, when somebody walks in, welcome to my home. And it has a special ring to it here in the Gulf Coast, because there was a time when their home was totally destroyed.

Part of the reason I've come down is to tell the people here in the Gulf Coast that we still think about them in Washington, and that we listen to the Governor when he speaks. The other reason I've come down is I want the taxpayers of the United States to see firsthand what their money has done to help revitalize a series of communities that were literally wiped out because of a major storm.
