Drumroll please. And the Anti-Christ is....
According to a Catholic Cardinal, the Anti-Christ will be a peacenik environmentalist.

An arch-conservative cardinal chosen by the Pope to deliver this year’s Lenten meditations to the Vatican hierarchy has caused consternation by giving warning of an Antichrist who is “a pacifist, ecologist and ecumenist”.

Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, 78, who retired as Archbishop of Bologna three years ago, quoted Vladimir Solovyov (1853-1900), the Russian philosopher and mystic, as predicting that the Antichrist “will convoke an ecumenical council and seek the consensus of all the Christian confessions”.

The “masses” would follow the Antichrist, “with the exception of small groups of Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants” who would fight to prevent the watering down and ultimate destruction of the faith, he said.

1. A 78 year old quoting the ravings of a mystic who died...
...over a hundred years ago. Never let it be said the Catholic church doesn't have it's finger on the pulse of the modern world. Wait till they find out about airplanes and microchips. The tops of their heads will simply fly off.

I do not listen to the rants of old, senile men.

8. So, they're trying to now get us to believe Al Gore is the anti-Christ?
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 10:50 PM by Clark2008
WTF is WRONG with these people?

P.S. But it goes right along in keeping with Reich-wing talk radio's talking points. I heard Sean Insannity say the other day that ecology and environmentalism is a "religion" to us lefties - that we "worship" global warning "prophets" as though we've be "indoctrinated." :eyes:

13. Is it Al Gore or Barack Obama?
After all, Barack wouldn't have voted for the IWR (he's on tape at the time saying he wouldn't), he attends the United Church of Christ (a very ecumenical denomination), and I'm sure he takes global warming seriously.

Plus Barack = 6

Hussein = 7

Obama = 5

And 7 + 5 = 12, which divided by the two names = 6 for both of them, so same thing...

OMG!

:woohoo:

9. Beware of False Prophets
Who come to you in sheep's clothing (or, in this case, a Cardinal's mitre) --

And inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Never hear Fundies quote that one, eh?

14. I thought the anti-Christ has been here -- even before I was born
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 11:15 PM by PhilipShore
The anti-Christ is the warmongers: Hitler and his legions... Republicanism ( Christian fundamentalists -- that want to see New York nuked to rid the USA of moral problems), Timothy McVeigh, the KKK, the MSM war propaganda (NBC, ABC, CBS, etc.), Bush, Al Qaeda, Rumsfeld, Rove, Abramoff etc.

For the Catholic church; to not know that the Apocalypse age has been here for quite some time, is mind- boggling to say the least, and I am a Christian/Pacifist.
