It has been 1,997 days since September 11th, 2001. In all that time, we still have not caught Osama bin Laden. After the horrific attacks of September 11th, we have spent five and half years without catching the man responsible for attacking our country and killing nearly 3,000 Americans.
This is unacceptable.
To Republicans who are still defending this administration, I have one question for you - have you forgotten? We invaded Iraq, which had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. And we now threaten to attack Iran. Yet, still no word on the people who actually attacked us. Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri sit comfortably in Pakistan by all accounts.
I don't want to hear a single word about Iran until these guys catch bin Laden first. It's not like they don't know how to find someone they're looking for. They found Saddam Hussein in a spider hole in the middle of Iraq.
They found him in a hole in the ground!
Why? Because they were looking! Bush sent 150,000 guys after Saddam and his boys and he got them. He sent 36 troops after Osama bin Laden when he had him cornered in Tora Bora, and we didn't get him. Is anyone surprised? And can anyone make the argument that Osama was as big a priority as Saddam?
Before you work yourself up trying to figure out how to explain that Osama was just as important to the Bush administration as Saddam, you better listen to the president first. He is unusually honest on this front. Here's what he said on March 13, 2002 about capturing Osama bin Laden:
"So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him. ... And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him." Well, there have you it. On Sunday, it will be 2,000 days since September 11th. 2,000 days since we haven't caught the man who attacked us on our soil and killed our fellow Americans - and so far has gotten away with it!
