O.M.G. - Really
I just got this email from a well-meaning, non-right wing friend. Obviously the political aspects flew right over her head but...wow!!:

HE is the only one that can save this country from the liberals that want him removed from the government. Our great nation will not stand if we delete HIM from all aspects of our government as the atheists want.

Jesus Test

HE is the only one that can save this country from the liberals that want him removed from the government. Our great nation will not stand if we delete HIM from all aspects of our government as the atheists want.

"

This is an easy test, you score 100 or zero. It's your choice. If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions.

Jesus said, "if you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

Not ashamed Pass this on . . . only if you mean it.

Yes, I do Love God.
He is my source of existence and Savior.
He keeps me functioning each and everyday.
Without Him, I will be nothing.

Without Him, I am nothing but with Him I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.

Phil 4:13

This is the simplest test . . . If you Love God, and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things he has done for you;

Send this to ten people and the person who sent it to you!

but she is blinded by religion and I'm sure she overlooked the political aspects. I know, it's really stupid to us here but all she sees is Jesus.

6. What I like the most is these "christians" who think their god is so weak and stupid
that he needs THEM to do his judging for him.... Where in the Bible does Christ mention liberals or conservatives?

FWIW - I'm not ashamed of Christ, I just don't want his religion (or any other) infused into my government. Separation of church and state, simple concept. Think how much better Afghnistan would have been without the Taliban, or America without the "christian" zealots. And I put the word in quotes because I have nothing against Christians but it seems a lot of folk take the name without any attachment to the words of Christ. (bush comes to mind... good "christian" that on is - NOT)

8. oh, I got that email, although another tactic was used
A friend of mine sent an email with the Subject line: "Sad News."

That piqued my interest so I clicked on it to read and it was this long spiel about how I wouldn't have clicked on it if it had "Jesus" in the title yada yada and how I should add my name to the bottom of the list. I'm a Christian but I told him to never send me that type of thing again. I hate chain letters of all kinds, Christian memes included.

I don't understand what people get out of having others forward emails. But this one was so over the top, I had to share it.

9. I would suggest sending a friendly email to her
which shows that The United States was founded as a not-specifically Christian nation. Yes, the majority of Americans were and are Christian, but to call us a "Christian Nation" is no more accurate or American than to say we are a "White Nation."

The language which liberals are "trying to remove" (and I don't even know that most are...) was not original to the founders' intent - it was added to the pledge and to money later as political moves.

Remind her also that Jesus did not advocate for a Theocratic state or enforced religion on anyone. Finally, remind her that she is lucky that the majority religion is not one she disagrees with - how would she feel if most Americans were Buddhist or Hindu and wanted to enforce that religion on everyone?

32. That's the problem with refuting this kind of garbage, it takes TIME and
LOGIC to make sense out of it and that can be BORING while people who pass this stuff on have taken absorbed the simple (and I do mean simple) propogandist messaging already.

36. but we NEED to speak out about this
Too many people do not have access to the truth, that "under God" and "In God We Trust" was added, and falsely believe that we are founded as a Christian Nation. I used to ignore it too, but the current fundamentalist evangelical climate to turn America into a Theocracy at any cost scares the crap out of me, so no longer.

Make it polite, informative, and short if you're worried about boring them. A few Thomas Jefferson quotes, a link or two and a couple sentences will do, if nothing else to set a spark.

Jesus Test

HE is the only one that can save this country from the petty, selfish neoconservatives that want to use His name to hide their agenda to destroy the good works of our government. Our great nation will stand just fine if He is accorded the rightful place in our government, namely in the hearts and minds of those who believe and who choose to demonstrate that faith by deeds, not words.

on edit: I'm really tired of these faux Christian "you're either with us or agin us" emails. They're as nutty as the jihadists.

33. And you might as well hit "Reply All"
When you use it.

It's also fun to go back and see that who started the nonsense, because a lot of times the folks who send these aren't very email savvy. They just hit "Forward" without taking the recipients off. If I have the spare time I go back, harvest those addresses and send the response back to all of them.
I'm evil that way sometimes.

11. Oh my, I certainly hope that you don't have some beliefs or
ideas that might be counter to what anyone else may feel. While I admit that this e-mail is over the top, to demean and berate and belittle someone for some very heartfelt beliefs shows that some people here have a lot of nerve when they demand respect for what they think or feel.

16. I got an email from someone close to me with a series
of pictures that had images super imposed on them. I thought they were interesting, my children thought I was an idiot because I even thought some of them were pretty. (they were not especially religious) Anyway, I emailed her back and, not wanting to hurt her feelings, said that I found them interesting. The next email I got from her was a hate chain letter about Hugo Chavez calling bush a terrorist. I sent her back an email explaining that I loved her too much to lie to her and explained that I agreed with Chavez about bush. I then sent the letter on to my liberal friends with explanation of what it was and with her email address removed. I have not heard from the sender since then. Too bad. I guess I should have just ignored it, but then what would I do when the next poisonous message came.

19. This is a loaded proposition with inlaid presuppositions that
assume the truth about the existence of Jesus and God and their inherent ability to perpertually and inerrantly offer good for only those who believe in them, not to mention the only way for the disciple to have any reason to exist meaningfully is to take the Jesus Test.

In law, it would be similar to a leading question like "How long has it been since you stopped beating your wife?" and you can't address whether you in fact beat your wife and that issue is presumed to be true.

20. For some reason this reminds me of Christ telling those who were
trying to trip him up.

"Give unto Caesar's that which is Caesar's. Give unto God that which is God's.

That says to mee that Jesus was advocating separation of church and state... many many years before the Constitutional Convention was held in Philadelphia in 1787.

Try that on the next time someone sends you something like that.
