1. 250 miles per charge.
I can't afford a local AND and long distance car and I travel quite a lot.

2. Not many can afford this car anyway
I think the first version is about $120,000. But they're coming out with another model for around $70k.

But damn, that's fast! And if the technology is legit, imagine what these cars are gonna cost in 10 years! Smell ya later, Saudi Arabia.

4. I'm glad it's starting out expensive.
I think too many people think of electric cars as being little buggies that go putt-putt. A car like this will make folks realize that electric cars can be cool!

Hopefully, other car makers will try to outdo Tesla...and prices will go down.

3. I get about 266 miles out of my gas tank and I drive a used '92 Explorer that I got in '00...
*sigh*

Imagine a world where GM hadn't killed the EV1, but instead embraced it, improved it, and sold it at affordable prices a decade ago...

6. Yeah, but
it still takes less than ten minutes to recharge (refuel).

An electric car will never become a viable alternative until it can go all the way from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on either one charge, or take less than 10 minutes to recharge.

(I am happy with my Prius, but sorry the first generation doesn't have the Electric-only retrofit)

8. Wow
I didn't know recharging was down to that. With a gas station, the fastest you can get fill up and then pull out is 10 minutes as well.

The only problem is, where does one recharge? Do you carry an extension cord and go up to someone's house and ask them to do you a favor?

13. 10 minutes huh?
And the vehicle runs for 200/250 miles? This sounds like the 500 mpg carburetor a bunch of years ago.

How much power does it take to go 200 miles at 70 mph on the interstate. Don't forget hills and wind. Plus what is the efficiency of the batteries and just how charged are they after 10 minutes? All this energy has to be put in in 10 minutes...
An extention cord won't do here.

7. Everything starts out expensive, but economies of scale and new technology drop the prices
Solar power has dropped by a factor of 10 twice already. Hydrogen cars run about $2 million right now, so when you think about it, these electric cars have a much shorter trip to the bottom.

11. Been there, done that, GM and oil companies killed the electric car.
Will it be revived again soon? Doubtful.

Who Killed The Electric Car showed just how entrenched industry is with the combustion engine. For example what about the thousands of Jiffy Lube stores and small business mechanics whose profits depend on frequent maintenance and the purchasing of parts such as oil filters, gaskets, etc.

12. The most important story in this article is that the Technology is
now available! I know, I can't afford a $100,000 car either, but if the techiestuff is available, mass production of a similar vehicle can happen in the NEAR FUTURE!

One of the big stumbling points with electric cars has been performance and distance per charge. This car seems to have answered these problems with a solution!

Boy, I sure would love one like that one though!
