not from his top job, but only from running Wally Reed even further into the ground.

Kiley ran into the ground this facility from 2003-5, and ignored many complaints, similar to what WAPO broke last week. Like most other failures appointed and promoted by Rumsfeld, Kiley was made the top general surgeon of the army last year. When General Weightman, a real newcomer to Wally Reed, (5 months on the job) was scape-goated for longstanding problems many years old (a typical Bushista move), many at Reed were taken aback.

Someone, probably on orders of the White House, also issued a gag order for all soldiers, and played mickey mouse games with the injured soldiers who dared complain.

SecDeaf Gates saw this disaster for what it is. A political, PR and social disaster. By firing Weighman, he got about 2 minutes of relief. By removing Kiley from repeating his horrible tenure at Reed, he got about an hour. By firing a presidential appointee - the Sec. of the Army, francis harvey, he got about a day.

until he removes Kiley, and perhaps a bunch of colonels and majors, with demotions and penalties, it won't come close to finishing it.

Removal of the gag order is manditory. Setting realistic goals, funding the fix, and adding personnel to treat the troops, is also manditory.

then again, anna nicole is still dead.

(my original thought was leavenworth, but another DU'er made this suggestion)

I want every single officer who KNEW, even for 5 minutes, every single civilian of authority (rummy, etc) who KNEW, or who SHOULD have known) charged with whatever criminal charges can be brought. I want their fortunes confiscated, I want THEM to live in the HELLS they allowed under their watches.

I think we should move all the military members from building 18 to the white house,to the observatory, to the housing for the WRAMC commander, etc. I wish the stocks and pillory were still an option.

I don't think you need to disparage and mock Anna Nicole. Her death is sad and unfortunate no matter what kind of coverage you or anyone else thinks she deserves. She certainly is not driving the coverage herself.
