And the Great Republican whines, "but they volunteered for this"
At one point you've all heard something like this:

"The Littleton Republican said U.S. troops in Iraq volunteered to put their lives on the line."

source:
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/government/article/0,2777,DRMN_23906_5386107,00.html

Our soldiers have already put their lives on the line; they've done their duty. Enough is enough. How can we treat them like slaves and extend their service?

Our newspapers are full of stories about parents telling how their sons joined the military to escape dead-end jobs. Did they really intend to put their lives on the line? Well, many HAVE died. The surge means many who have done their duty must return.

As our dear Republicans perform their only act of patriotism, saluting the flag, they watch our soldiers being thrown into the Walter Reed cesspool. Americans watch as discredited Republican draft-dodgers demand more extensions of our soldiers service while not volunteering their own children to a war that Republicans demanded. Yet they are stuck in their own Catch-22: They mess they created is so bad that they say, "we can't leave."

From Catch-22

"I've flown over 70 goddam combat missions. Don't talk to me about fighting to save my country. I've been fighting all along to save my country. Now I'm going to fight to save myself. The country's not in danger any more but I am."

So, dear Republicans. End this war now because there is no doubt that you are not only liars, but also traitors. You lied to get us into this war. You turn your backs on our troops. The soldiers have done their duty. Either end this war or, Republicans, YOU, get yourselves down to the recruiter's office and volunteer to take their places. The world knows the truth: Republicans are liars who won't "put up" even now as Republicans can find no further refuge behind the lies.

2. I hate that SICK excuse !!!
Somehow they justify someone signing up to DEFEND our country as a justifiable reason to feed said person into a meat-grinder.

If they sign up to do a job, perverting that job into something that is clearly in violation of the Constitution, which they swore to defend from "enemies both foreign and domestic," means that they are not required to comply, and they have a valid reason to refuse. If someone agrees to work for you, he is not your slave to do with as you please, or MURDER by any means. Sending men to die needlessly and with no hope of success is Murder.

3. U.S. Troops are expendable
The true anger which has been vented by the government is that the wounded have had the temerity to survive, because they siphon off much needed war funds, whilst the dead can be eulogized and have words like noble deaths, sacred blood, honor and sacrifice placed on their "dead lips by grave robbers and fakes".

4. "but they volunteered for this"
so they are getting what they deserve?

They volunteered to protect the United States of America not to secure future profits for Bush-Cheney Inc.

6. they not only lied to congress, they lied to our troops
more than anyone else, our troops thought they were protecting america from further 9/11-type attacks, due to saddam's wmds and alliance with osama and all that bu**sh**.

it was all a big lie, our troops are there to disrupte a competitor's oil supply and that's all.

they are dying so that exxonmobil can have record shattering profits.

10. I had an arguement about this
One guy tried to make a deal saying if he enlists, I should enlist with him. I said no, I'm not falling into his trap.

11. Volunteering doesn't fucking give you the right to irresponsibly gamble
with their lives! People volunteer, not because they think they'll turn into chum, but because they think military service is honorable and that soldiers are given more respect by serving our country, than they can find in an ordinary civilian life.

The Republicans have crapped EVERYTHING.
