American Blood is the new bait in the new Bait & Switch: The Redirection
If you care about what is happening to American soldiers you will read this: http://www.newyorker.com/printables/fact/070305fa_fact_hersh

In testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee, Joint Chief of Staff General Pace indicated that if he had to follow DoD readiness standards, one third of the forces headed to Iraq would not be deployed. Apparently, it is possible that, in addition already established shortages of adequately armoured vehicles, body armour and other needed equipment, in the near future, one third of the total military force in Iraq will not be fully manned, fully trained or fully equipped. General Pace did not want the Senate, and by extension Rep. John Murtha, to do anything about this weakness in force readiness. Why? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rep-john-murtha/general-pace-cant-have-i_b_42321.html .

Pace also said to the Committee that a weak Iraqi government (Shia) results in stronger militias (Sunni). The "redirection" of strategy in the MidEast, documented by Seymour Hersh (linked above) describes, a regional process the purpose of which is to weaken Shia and strengthen Sunnis.

So, in Iraq, as the Sunni militias get stronger, they have to decide whether to kill more Americans or more Shia. Doesn't the fact that the Administration is resisting Murtha's plan, and leaving those forces weak in that situation, suggest that this would push the Sunni militias in Iraq in the direction of attacking the Shia instead? - thus, mind you, contributing to the further destabilization of a situation in which victory has been defined as stability.

It's the old "Bait and Switch" routine again. Only this time it is American Blood being waved under the noses of the Sunnis in the region to get them into what's going on, and then, as Hersh describes, through the use of special Sunni operative$$$$$$$$, their efforts are turned on the Shia instead.
