Can anyone tell me WHY the Dems don't simply REVOKE the 2002 authorization
they gave Bush?

That would end his ability to wage war in Iraq.

1. Could Bush veto that? I don't know how it works.

12. We can't get cloture on the minimum wage bill.
So for now everything stops in the senate. Even if we managed the 60 votes to get over that hurdle, Dumbass would veto it. We would then have to get 2/3 of both houses to override that.

I am not saying we shouldn't do it, we should, I'm saying we should do it knowing full well that it will fail.

2. It must not be that easy or, surely, they would do it.
But is it difficult because of the potential for political fallout? Because it might cost some Democrats their seats? Or is it difficult/impossible for some legal/constitutional reason?

4. Before they started stumbling with this resolution
they said they were going to revoke it.

5. Personally, I think that's a very good idea.
Bush will claim some sort of inherent authority to continue as commander-in-chief, however.

The bottom line is to begin to cut off funding. And that's coming.

13. They are talking about re-authorizing the war, with specific goals
and benchmarks, and redeployment as part of those benchmarks. I think they are working on it, and Chuck Hagel being on their side is a great asset. Thoughtful legislation takes time, the most dangerous part for our troops will be the withdrawl.

15. Only congress can authorize war. So congress can take it away
according to the constitutional checks and balances. But they would have to remove their chicken suits.

16. didn't Sen Kennedy write a bill to do that?
and didn't the dems ignore it?

Or maybe its too soon.

They need to get off their asses - my nephew joined
the marines, (which we tried for 3 years to talk him out of).
