Washington trembles as madam threatens to sell phone records
A woman accused of running a prostitution ring threatened to immerse Washington in a sex scandal yesterday by saying she was considering selling 13 years of phone records to raise funds for her legal defence. The threat by Deborah Palfrey, who was indicted on racketeering charges this week, saw lawyers claiming that the records would soon lead to a client list of 10,000, including some of Washington's most influential figures.

"Statistically, when you have 10,000 clients in DC, you are going to cover a broad spectrum of the governmental and private sector that operates here," said Montgomery Sibley, Ms Palfrey's lawyer in her civil proceedings.

"You can make an assumption based on these facts: the escorts only responded to private residences in good sections of DC, Virginia, or Maryland, or in four- or five-star hotels ... The clientele was about 20% foreign, and it was not an inexpensive service."

From her California home, Ms Palfrey is accused of running a service that offered, according to her company website, "legal sexual and erotic services across the spectrum of adult sexual behaviour". It was a lucrative operation, earning Ms Palfrey $750,000 (£380,000) over the last six years, court documents said.

2. This could be bad for Dems.

Unless Ms Palfrey was selling sex with underage boys, I can't see any Republican Congressmen being involved. There might be a few who like being dressed in diapers or being whipped while looking at nude photos of Shrub, but this woman's range of services seem too normal to be of interest to the Dark Side. Which presumably means her phonebook will be disproportionately filled with Dems. Oh well... ;)

3. 2/17: Feds allege web of bribery, debauchery
Sordid details of history's most egregious congressional corruption scandal emerged yesterday in a grand jury indictment alleging that associates of Randy “Duke” Cunningham plied him with prostitutes, luxury vacations, limousine service, corporate jet travel and tickets to a Super Bowl in exchange for tens of millions of dollars in government contracts.

U.S. Attorney Carol C. Lam presents indictments against three individuals linked to the Cunningham
Poway defense contractor Brent Wilkes and former high-ranking CIA official Kyle “Dusty” Foggo, childhood friends from Chula Vista, were indicted yesterday on conspiracy, money laundering and honest-services fraud charges. Wilkes was also charged with bribery of a public official.

The indictment against Wilkes is filled with details of debauchery and excess, including instances in August 2003 when Wilkes allegedly provided prostitutes for himself and disgraced former Congressman Cunningham in a $6,600 per night, 8,000-square-foot suite at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on Hawaii's Big Island.

On two occasions, Wilkes paid $600 for two hours with the women, plus a $500 tip, according to the indictment. The women left at midnight, after about an hour. On the second night, the indictment read, Cunningham asked for a different prostitute.

6. Remember when it broke that
they were having poker games and prostitutes at some hotel there that included a CIA guy (Goss?) and several republican house members on the intelligence and some other committee? Big papers picked it up, not just scandal sheets.
That was early 2006...wonder where that went.
