Coulter to speak TODAY at "Reclaiming America for Christ" conference.
Coulter will be headlining another event this afternoon. The following is from the Sun-Sentinal in Florida.

"Sharp-tongued conservative columnist Ann Coulter will headline speakers for this year's Reclaiming America for Christ conference.

The journalist and frequent talk show guest will speak Saturday afternoon at the closing session of the two-day conference at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale.

Organizers cheerfully acknowledged the controversial choice, saying Coulter had the high profile they wanted."

It should be quite an affair at the church! I heard that the church is going all out this year because of the prestige of having Ann Coulter at the conference. The church and congregation are hurriedly creating a "carnival" like event with rides and games in addition to the speaker events. There will be a team "Drag a F@g for Jesus" competition. Another new game being tried at the conference will the "Stone a H@m@ Rock Toss. It is rumored that Ann Coulter will throw out the first ceremonial rock. All in all it should be a great day celebrating Jesus Christ. The first 100 in the door get a free Brownshirt and Jackboot keychain!

41. not really either.
I used to have a habit of picking user names by glancing at my bookshelves, and my forlorn, dusty copy of the Joyce jumped out at me one day (this was before DU). It's not really a reference, though.

9. Good
Everytime she gets paid to speak for some organization it further proves how viscious, vindictive and wrong these people are. I hopes she gets on the stump with all the frontrunning GOP presidential candidates. I hope she starts dating Newt. Maybe she'll steal him away from wife #3. That would be sweet.

Ann Coulter eptomizes everything that is wrong with the conservative movement today - nasty, irresponsible and out of touch. The more she opens her pie hole the more she causes moderates and independents to peel away from the GOP. She's good for us.

I am convinced Rush's nasty tirade against Michael J. Fox cost the Republicans the election in Missouri. Time will tell what gifts Ann will give us.

What has Coultergeist EVER done that is even remotely "Christian"? I've never even heard her speak the name of Jesus. How could she? All that spews out of her mouth is hate and venom. For them to have her speak at this conference says a lot about THEM, too. How could they possible believe that she is remotely a speaker that Christians should listen to? They're doing this for the same reason Coulter does everything: for attention and money. Sheeesh.

19.  THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
Ann should read these through a time or two. So should the people who invited her to speak.

THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

40. WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?
Sorry for yelling, but here's a suggestion.

Write them a note, in your own words and enclosing the Beatitudes. My letter will say something to the effect of, "I'm enclosing the words of Christ. It seems you may have overlooked these." They can be addressed at:

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church
5555 North Federal Highway
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

Writing a short letter and pasting in the Beatitudes will take less than fifteen minutes, cost you a thirty-nine cent stamp, and make a lasting impression on the person who opens their mail at the very least.

Julie

29. I don't get Ann Coulter being accepted among conservative Christians.
I grew up in a fundamentalist church. One thing we were taught was that cursing and bad language was sinful (obviously I don't practice this any longer), and we were taught that it was not our place to pass judgement on others but that was God's perogative. I haven't attended one of these churces for several decades but I don't understand how people got to this hatefulness.

I hope there will be film of this gross hatefulness that makes it out so it can be viewed in all its ugliness. I am so sorry that that Christians have allowed the church to descend once again into a new Dark Age. I can't tell you how much this bothers me and how firmly I hold that any belief system that embraces hatred of this type and does not denounce it, does not deserve to be recognized by society.

38. Here is your answer (unfortunately):
The ends justifies the means. It's that simple.

To these people it doesn't matter how foul you are, or how rude, or how mean, or how callous. After all, those evil liberals aren't worth crap anyway. Steamroll over 'em in order to create a Christian nation. Bump 'em aside to create a Christian theocracy. Knock 'em over to take America back for Christ (although as many here said it's funny they're taking something back that never was; maybe they should read up on the deism of our founding fathers).

I have seen these attitudes tear up the Church and create a vast chasm between believers and non-believers. Now it's gotten so bad they just look like fools - unChristianlike fools, mocking Christ rather than serving Him. They are just another branch of the Republican party.

30. I wrote to them back in November
I think your association with both Ann Coulter and George W. Bush is indefensible. It is clear to me that he has been brazenly lying since he came on the national stage in 1999. I do not need Michael Moore, Al Franken or the media to tell me that either. Except for the very left wing on-line media and "The Nation", the media has given him a free pass on his lies. I took a series of quotes from whitehouse.gov and wrote 18 pages explaining how Bush has lied about economics again and again and again.
Ann Coulter is also clearly not even a decent person, much less a follower of Christ. She said: "... Christianity fuels everything I write. Being a Christian means that I am called upon to do battle against lies, injustice, cruelty, hypocrisy—you know, all the virtues in the church of liberalism." Only trouble is, she seems to be unaware of either George Bush's or her own lies.
Publisher's Weekly writes "Her modus operandi is to "start with the maximum assertion about liberals and then push the envelope, because, as we know, their evil is incalculable." If the title isn’t clue enough, the "we" in that quote demonstrates her assumption that the reader is as angry as she is, which frees her to make any accusation, whether grounded in reality or not."
Neither of those two are decent people, and I think your association with them is indefensible.

They only replied with "We sincerely appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us."

35. From People for the American Way's "Right Wing Watch"
An excellent site if you haven't seen it:

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/2007/02/claiming_to_be.html

snip

Over the last three decades, D. James Kennedy has established himself as one of the most powerful religious-right leaders in the country – called an “ivy-league Jerry Falwell.” Kennedy’s Center for Reclaiming America for Christ is dedicated to mobilizing its supporters against abortion, gays, and evolution, and his Center for Christian Statesmanship is dedicated to honoring almost exclusively Republican politicians who take up the religious-right standard in office. His 2007 conference will reflect those missions:

Reclaiming America for Christ 2007 is coming, and “evil” is counting on you.

That’s right. The only thing evil requires for its triumph is for Christians to say and do nothing.

According to the brochure, attendees will receive “Power packed training sessions taught by ‘culture war’ veterans” on “How to recruit and mobilize your pastor and church” to combat abortion, homosexuality, and “Darwin’s deadly legacy.”

And although the conference, in Fort Lauderdale, is at the same time as the much larger Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, a number of prominent right-wing speakers will make the trip down, including Coulter, Phyllis Schlafly, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, Frank Pavone of Priest for Life, and Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention. (Schlafly and Coulter are scheduled for both conferences.)

Although Center for Reclaiming America Executive Director Gary Cass claims “It's not political,” his organization’s history and the choice of speakers makes that assertion pretty unconvincing.

so they can revoke that churche's tax exempt status. Coulter is vile and her only credentials are having come from a wealthy family. I thought the evangelicals had gotten the message that KKKarl only wants to use them for votes and they have no other use to this administration. They are scorned and laughed at. Perhaps it's worth it to them so they can rake in the taxpayer's dollars for faith based initiatives. Hurry, tax that organization's profits.
