1. I used to be a member of Ducks Unlimited,
and never even made the connection. Brain not firing on all cylinders, I guess.

2. thirty some years ago, mid early 70's, I built a couple dams for DU
that they used for flooding these big ass fields of grain in the fall and winter for the migrating ducks and geese

6. up by lake hulah in oklahoma
one flooded a few hundred acres the other not quite so much. At the time I didn't know what to think but I went back a couple years later during the winter and then I seen what it was all about, there were thousands of waterfowl and acres upon acres of grain sticking up above the waters level that the birds were feeding on. they had nest boxes by the hundreds too

5. That DU's been doing a lot of fine conservation work for a long time
They've been advocating for wetland conservation for years, even going so far as to purchase endangered wetlands to save them from commercial exploitation.

They're supporters are mainly those vile gun-using rednecks that are constantly ridiculed around here. OK they have an ulterior motive for their conservation (more ducks to hunt) but Ducks Unlimited still has a very impressive record.
