little, round white pills. You don't get the same reaction though, at least I didn't. Chronic pain. My Doc thought it might be worth a shot but it didn't help much, if any. I couldn't see taking them anymore.

33. My rheumatologist has offered to prescribe any amount
of marinol that I deem necessary to help control the pain and other effects of psoriatic arthritis.

He is very concerned that there would be legal repercussions beyond bearing should I attempt to acquire the natural product.

Unfortunately, marinol is ineffective at doing much of anything, other than making me sleepy.
I get repeated prescriptions for two hundred milligrams per day of morphine sulfate and all the oxycodone I can eat for breakthrough pain.

The side effects of the morphine and oxycodone are so bad that I break the morphine tabs in half and avoid the oxy altogether when I can. The pain is beyond description but, until it becomes blinding and the only thing left is to simply become unconscious, I prefer to do without or with very little.

Oh, how I wish we could get the power tripping bastards in the government out of the loop.

However, the privatized prison system has to be fed, or else the owners might suffer reduced revenues, so they lobby lawmakers to keep cannabis illegal and prison sentences high.

Both democratic and republican legislators are guilty of the grand thirst for money so the system is unlikely to change.

Google Marinol. However, inhalation is a far better delivery method. You might want to try vaporization rather than smoking.

It heats the product until the active ingredient vaporizes...delivering the active ingredient without any smoke.

17. that's a great idea
on the bright side, I can't remember where I saw it,but a recent study found marijuana smoke to be far less toxic/carcinogenic than cigarettes, as nicotine is the main offender there. Still, smoking anything is not good for you.

I prefer eating it. I do know that there are many other active ingredients besides THC, and from what I have heard, the pills lack those as well as being too expensive.

If you decide to try eating it, most people make the mistake of eating too much because they've been told they need a lot. The trick is a small amount of food to weed ratio. I like making a very small (as in easily fitting on a side plate) stir fry and adding in a small bud. That way the food doesn't make you sleepy at all. I don't care for brownies/sweets/the butter method as much as just using it as an herb, although I've gotten off on both.

34. Just for you - I googled a recipe :D
Teas:

Teas can be made from water or milk, soy, seed, nut or rice milk. The active ingredients are oil soluble. If you prefer to drink tea made from water then be certain to 'notice' the oil floating on the top of the tea. This method takes a few minutes if a flower top is being used, it may be saved and used on another occasion. Otherwise let the tea steep for 1-2 hours and add a tsp. of butter. The effects vary so begin by steeping for a short time period, increasing as needed.

Using milk requires an all day cooking period, or overnight (no less than 2 hours) if you have a crock pot. Add a cup of 'milk' (you can use soy milk or nut milk) and 2 heaping tbls. of marijuana leaf flour to the container, simmer on a low heat. You can take your "milk" with you in a thermos or reheat.

---

Just cuz I'm feeling silly. In my case it's caffeine not THC. :D

31. oh-- marijuana is used as a general medicinal herb in many cultures...
...because it is broadly revered. But boiling it in water is not an effective way to enjoy the psychotropic qualities of marijuana. Cooking it in a fat is another matter, since the psychotropic components are lipid soluble.

I once found a large bale of Mexican bud that washed up on the beach in Baja. No telling how long it had been in the water, but it was thoroughly saturated. Rinsed in fresh water and dried out, it was just as good as new.

It's soluble in alcohol as well. There are lots of cannabis drinks that could be made and enjoyed if it were legal.

20. Of course that would be a much more practical option if cannabis were legal
The fact is it's currently far too expensive for most people to use in cooking, so most people smoke it. The average pot brownie recipe calls for at least an ounce of bud, that's $200 - $500 (street price) worth of product. Who can afford that?

26. I'm in Denver, we've been trying for years to make this miracle plant legal.
Technically it's legal to posses (an ounce) in the city limits, but it's still a federal and state crime. Because of that, it still demands a black-market price.

Honestly I just want to grow a plant or two myself, for myself. I've never had much interest in paying street prices for an herb that's so easy to grow (so I'm told).

23. Med patients often steep cannabis in oil and pack it into gelcaps.
They say it's much more effective than Marinol mainly because Marinol is synthesized THC, whereas real cannabis contains dozens of other beneficial cannabinoids in addition to THC.

No
You couldn't put the amount of pot it takes to make good brownies into a capsule. You can turn weed into THC oil and then you could put it in a capsule. ...and the best way to make brownies is not to just dump a bunch of weed into the mix. That's wasteful and not very good. You first make marijuana butter and you use that in the brownies. It's very very strong this way and you have to be careful with dosing. You might end up thinking you were slipped some mescaline...<g> Turning weed into THC oil and then using a vaporizor is my favorite way.

42. Thanks but no thanks
just like booze, I just don't have a hankering to try it. But if I ever get glaucoma (which runs in my family, with two members going blind from it), I'll definitely consider using it. A friend of mine who was told he'd go blind in a year started smoking (had been very much against illegal drugs before this)--16 years later he can still see.

51. I don't smoke it because it makes me paranoid. I was told four years ago
that I will eventually go blind. I was delivered by forceps which pinched an optical nerve and left me cross eyed. That was corrected by surgery when I was six and I was left with a "lazy eye". Have had problems with my sight ever since. I had a glaucoma test and failed it, which prompted the diagnosis that I would go blind, eventually. I wonder if pot could/would help me? Like I said, it makes me paranoid, but I might be willing to try it again if it would help me from going blind.

53. All I know is that Kent
was an herbalist with a state park agency. He was absolutely against illegal drugs--until he was in an accident and lost an eye. In doing an examination, the doctors told him that the other eye had glaucoma and he'd be blind in less than a year. He remembered what he had read and started smoking, and continues to this day, over 20 years later. I don't know about the paranoia for you--perhaps another delivery method?

35. I've been perscribed pills
I was perscribed marinol as an appetite stimulant, but I personally didn't notice too much help from it. I think part of the problem was that I just built tolerance to it too quickly to notice the effects.

After I stopped taking it, I waited a couple of months tried taking one of my extras again just for fun, and I was high as a kite though. It was a really heady high.

I think part of the problems with Marinol is that it only contains THC, while the real thing contains other mind psycho active chemicals in it. I believe that the other chemicals are more helpful in producing the pain relieving effects for medical marijuana.

If you don't want to smoke it anymore though, I would just recomend maing some brownies, are using a vaporizer.

38. I heard an interview a while back with people who were on medicinal hooch
and then had been switched to marinol and they HATED it because it was far too strong and reduced them to being totally zonked and entirely dysfunctional. They far preferred the organic form as they could self regulate their degree of stonedness.

Just another case of big pharma making big money and the gov having no common sense at all.

Non psycho active hemp can be used to make fuel, rope, paper, and textiles, can be grown anywhere, requires very little care, could save a whole lot of family farms, and revive our economy.

BUT NOOOOOOOOO. The lobbyists don't like it at all.

Anybody else totally sick of governance, of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. . .?

Put that in Thomas Jefferson's pipe and smoke it.

Grind up yer bud fine, mix into oily natural peanut butter, spread on hard cracker (or cookie), wrap
in foil, heat in oven @230F 20 mins (to activate the thc), enjoy.

Another way is to make a tincture:
Grind up yer bud fine, heat in oven @230F 20 mins (to activate the thc), stir into 151 rum in wide
mouth jar, place jar in boiling water, keep mixture @ 170F (use candy thermometer) boiling out the alcohol, strain thru coffee filter, one or two eye droppers full into any liquid (more alcohol such as a beer seems to make the effect occur more rapidly). enjoy.
