My Take on Bush's Veterans Commission looking into VA's and Military Hospitals
Every time Bush has set up a Commission we veterans have paid in lost of benefits and lost of VA Hospitals. Now we know for three years they knew about Walter Reed but that's only the tip of the ice berg. Yes most VA Hospitals are very good but others well all that can be said about them is hell holes. In the Chicago Swamp Tammy Duckworth has a video of her treatment at Walter Reed.

But here's my take Bush wants to destroy the VA. Republicans claim Bush has given more money to the VA then any other President. NO HE HAS NOT. All his budgets have had cuts in veterans benefits. Plus a GAO report shows that his budgets have been based on phony numbers. The only hope we have to clean up this mess is Waxman's hearings. Well that's just this vets take.

fixing the problems. As it is with every scandal out of this administration. As soon as someone enlists, they are treated like mud, and that should offend every last American to the core. I wonder if it's harder now to get in to volunteer at VA hospitals. I've been meaning to, and I'm ashamed I haven't made more of an effort so far.

4. It is all so predictable.

* administration finally acknowledges it has a problem that has been glaringly obvious to us for eons (9/11, the Iraq debacle, now the treatment of wounded Vets.)

* administration forms a bipartisan commission to investigate the matter.

* administration blocks most info because it's classified and could endanger national security and embolden the terrorists (aka any one who disagrees with * administration.)

Bipartisan commission publishes a tepid report and spends a lot of dough.

* administration ignores all of the bipartisan commission's recommendations.

* administration keeps doing the same old ineffectual unconstitutional and criminal shit.

"rinse and repeat"

bush:

1. Stalls for time until it fades from the public memory

2. avoids answering questions by saying "I'll wait until I get the report"

it's a cover-up, they've found a big rug and swept the vets under it -- outta sight outta mind and it STINKS

meanwhile... if you noticed the GD topics for today there are more Coulter-Faggot threads than those pertaining to Walter Reed... we've been distracted again...

coming soon Cookie Monster Muppet shaves his head, puts on a diaper and says he's the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby while driving cross country with a suitcase filled with stolen chocolate chips

way this misAdministration has done Veterans and military retirees about as disgusting as it gets. From about the late 90's I have seen our own local VAMC shrink services, number of beds, mental health programs such as PTSD, substance abuse both in patient and out. It was understandable in that it was thought that the cold was over and it was less likely that there would be as much need in the future. When GW started talking about war, that would have been the time to start increasing the funding and start beefing up all the appropriate facilities in anticipation of the higher level of need. So what does "Einstein Bu$h do, he introduces budget cuts and then cuts some more for good measure, basically to cover his tax breaks for the wealthiest and his corporate welfare giveaways. Now we find our military and Veterans medical facilities understaffed, underfunded and over whelmed. That in it's self should be reason to impeach the Bu$h/Cheney cabal!

12. Proud to give this rec #6 ...... now consider this: 20+ million vets
TWENTY-plus million ...... add one family member for each and that's 40 million people.

Why is this not a top issue?

Because nobody's been reporting it.

The American Legion? hahahahahahaha .... right.

The VFW? Gimme a break.

When the fuck will all these flag wavers stop shoveling bullshit and address the REAL issues.

There are STILL guys fucked up from a stupid, pointless war 40 years ago.

We're creating even more.

If all that gets fixed is Walter Reed, than we have failed miserably.
