Missing Woman=Suspect husband

DETROIT, Michigan (AP) -- Investigators found what is believed to be the torso of a mother of two who disappeared last month and sought her husband as the suspect in her slaying, authorities said Saturday.

The husband was suicidal, his lawyer said.

Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said the torso was found in the garage of the home shared by Tara and Stephen Grant in suburban Washington Township. Additional body parts were found Saturday at a public park near the home, he said.

Tara Grant, 34, has been missing since February 9. Stephen Grant, 37, reported her missing five days later. Police say that on the day she went missing, the Grants argued over her frequent business trips abroad.

An arrest warrant was issued Saturday charging Grant with murder and disinterment and mutilation, Hackel said.

1. I live in Michigan and when I first saw him...
I became suspect he was crying and whimpering about how he missed her and was begging for anyone who knew anything to come forward. He also looks like the runaway bride not that it has anything to do with the case look at his eyes...

4. The vast majority of women who are murdered are killed
by their spouse or boyfriend.

Facts is facts and that's why cops automatically assume it was the husband/sig. other. They rule that out first before moving onto stranger killings because it's, honestly, so rare.

7. Also, a woman is actually safer on the street....
Than in her own home.

5. I live in Michigan,too
I don't know why the home wasn't searched when she was first reported 'missing.' Shouldn't that just be SOP?

19. No, it shouldn't be SOP
Any search should only be done with the residents' permission or with a warrant.

I'm sure the cops wanted to search the house the first day.

I am sure that MCSD will catch some heat on this case for taking so long... My thoughts and prayers go out to the children hopefully they can have somewhat of a normal life, after this tragic event....And the husband you are a fucking coward( hope you enjoy your lake front condo on the burning lake of hell).Just 10 mins with this chickenshit bastard... besides he will take the coward way out and shoot his self rather than dealing with the legal system.

13. They live next door to friends of ours.
I just found this out this evening. There were reasons why the police didn't search the house straight up. Her mother told him not to contact police about her because she had left like this before to "cool off". That was the major reason; they had no real probably cause. The au pair corroborated his story of what happened that night.

When I play frisbee golf there the next time, I'll be a bit leery when the disc goes into the weeds. Even bicycling will be a bit creepy. Shame. It's one of the few places to go for some decent outdoor exercise. I can't even imagine how her family will deal with this emotionally.

17. Now, They Let the Murderer Get Away
They have allowed the bastard to get away. It was reported tonight that the suspect/husband was "under surveillance" while the house and garage were being searched, and was discovered gone at some point with the family dog. Even though the ground is covered with snow and footprints would have been easily seen, they still have no clue where "theirs" went. Yes, things are so different nowadays and women are so "privileged," even "out of control." Notice that the (male) police have, yet again, taken the male's story as if it were proven fact: "Police say that on the day she went missing, the Grants argued over her frequent business trips abroad," when only the bastard husband claimed any such thing happened, all while sending e-mails to other women, about wanting to cheat, and "having no conscience." Michigan DUers may recall that "Sheriff" Hackel's father, the previous Sheriff Hackel, was a convicted rapist, who had to quit and was imprisoned. So different...

21. Yes, the sheriff's father was convicted
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 07:34 AM by JustABozoOnThisBus
And he got elected to the vacant sheriff post.

So far, the younger sheriff has not been convicted or accused of anything, so should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Unless we want to find him guilty by association.

None of that has anything to do with the Grant case.

22. Well...he was accused (when he was just a wee policeman) of
taking a police boat through a no wake zone and getting in boat loads of trouble. He's a jerk who is full of self importance.

If that was a crime, we'd have to jail many of the cops and many of the politicians (from both sides of the aisles).

I know there was a time when the no-wake areas were especially vulnerable. So even though it sounds funny, it probably was no fun for the residents to see a police boat flying through just to get to a donut shop. It would be nice to see that much water in the lakes again.

(I assume you were talking about Hackell the younger who was running that bozt)
