Star of MysoreMysore, May 22- India is emerging as one of the most attractive automotive market and has poised to become a key sourcing base for automotive components and the country is also emerging as an outsourcing hub for small passenger cars, said Dr. R. Mukhopadhyay, Director, Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer & Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI), Rajasthan.
He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day National Conference of Eco-friendly Plastic and Rubber systems organised by Department of Polymer Science and Technology at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, here on Monday.
He said that the extraordinary growth that the Indian Automotive Industry has witnessed is a result of two major factors, namely the improvement in the living standard of middle class and increase in their disposable income and the Indian government liberalisation measures.
The increased demand for Indian automobiles has resulted in a large number of multinatio-nal auto companies, especially from Japan, USA and Europe entering the Indian market and working in collaboration with the Indian firms.
