Cheney's "secret talks" meeting in Oman? (we use 4 of their air bases)

Vice President Dick Cheney landed in the U.S.-allied Arab monarchy of Oman yesterday and went directly to talks with its foreign minister, Omani government officials said.

A U.S. embassy spokesman in Oman declined to detail Cheney's plans, but an Omani government official said Cheney was to discuss regional security issues, including the U.S. standoff with Iran over its nuclear program.

Oman, which sits across the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz from Iran, allows the United States use of four air bases.

We do a lot of our C4I from there, because the Saudis need plausible deniability about our relationship with them. Oman fits the bill, and it's in a strategic spot.

The Midget Mayor of Teheran, the Iranian Prez, is in Saudi Arabia today trying to make nice with the Sunnis (who hate his guts, but hey, whatever...).

Love the idiotic POST headline--Cheney in Oman for SECRET TALKS. Well, ya blabbermouth, they aren't secret now, are they? And of course, that's the way the administration WANTS it.

This is a bit of sabre-rattling, to please our Saudi masters.
