That was mind bogglingly idiotic. The acute hypocrisy is a total affront.

9. Giuliani did blame the troops!
I saw Guiliani make that comment. I couldn't believe my ears. I hope the Democrats play that over and over again in this campaign. What a jerk!

10. that's a right wing clip, designed to rip dems, you realize?
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 01:18 PM by Gabi Hayes
there's a much more effective clip that only shows Giuliani.

it's seven seconds long, and should be used as a compilation of things against him, such as how he got out of serving in the Armed Forces by becoming a law clerk.

he had other priorities

it won't matter, though, as the media have already annointed him as their chosen one.

none of the things, like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb2y1IM17sM&NR

will see the light of exposure in the M$M

12. did they compile it? it's clearly slanted to make Kerry look like the villain.
I can't believe they put that together.

I'll bet they grabbed it from somewhere else.

I found the same one on the youtube Rudy Giuliani pages

19. HERE is the full Media Matters article with the video:

Conservatives launch baseless verbal attacks on U.S. troops

In falsely accusing Senator John Kerry of denigrating American troops, it is in fact conservatives themselves -- including one of Bush-Cheney '04's most vocal campaigners -- who are suggesting that soldiers on the ground are responsible for explosives going missing in Iraq. On FOX News Channel, both Weekly Standard editor William Kristol and conservative radio host Laura Ingraham claimed that it was the soldiers -- not President George W. Bush -- who decided not to search for the explosives. And on NBC's Today, former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani, an active Bush campaigner, placed the "actual responsibility" squarely on the troops.

On October 27, Bush accused Kerry of "denigrating the actions of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts." But in defending the president, Giuliani, Kristol, and Ingraham engaged in precisely the kind of finger-pointing at the troops of which Bush falsely accused Kerry.

From the October 28 edition of NBC's Today:

GIULIANI: The president was cautious. The president was prudent. The president did what a commander in chief should do. And no matter how much you try to blame it on the president, the actual responsibility for it really would be for the troops that were there. Did they search carefully enough? Didn't they search carefully enough?

14. I missed the news ... what are they being blamed for?
Someone was searching an area, and skipped a location? And there were consequences? Is there a link to that?

Just gleaning what info I could from the first (and second -haha) video, it seems like the local platoon or company leadership made an error.

23. Ok, thanks. It wasn't clear from the OP which incident
that Giuliani was talking about.

Yeah, this is not due to "grunt error", this was a strategic priority. Secure the oil resources, secure the government buildings, everything else is down the list somewhere. Including munitions dumps, museums, banks. We went in with enough force to overthrow Saddam's regime, not enough to secure every facility.

In hindsight (20-20 of course) we should have dealt with that cache. Guard it, empty it, or blow it up. That's my small view. Bigger view is that we shouldn't have been there in the first place, should have just let Saddam have Kuwait and bid for the oil like everyone else.

Still, I'll be surprised if any political heads roll. They might find a Colonel or General to take the fall (and take early retirement). They might even let some hint of blame fall on the former Sec'y of Defense. Anyone think Bush will be blamed? outside of DU, of course.

Anyway, thanks for those links, AR Granny.
