Bush impeachment calls gather momentum
Bush impeachment calls gather momentum
Sun, 04 Mar 2007 05:59:08

Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson, Mayor of Salt Lake City, has called for the impeachment of George W. Bush before the Washington State Senate Governmental Operations Committee.

"I am honored to address you today and am pleased that you, unlike so many members of Congress and most state legislatures, have recognized your solemn responsibility to examine whether proceedings should be commenced for the impeachment of the President of the United States," the Mayor said.

"Never before has there been such a compelling case for impeachment and removal from office of the president of the United States for heinous human rights violations, breaches of trust, abuses of power injurious to the nation, war crimes, misleading Congress and the American people about threats to our nation's security and the supposed case for war, and grave violations of treaties, the Constitution, and domestic statutory law," Anderson proclaimed.

The mayor has attended anti-war, anti-Bush rallies in Salt Lake City, one in August 2006, another in August 2005, addressing the demonstrators that Bush and Cheney should be probed into and possibly impeached by the Congress.

His written testimony, which was read before the committee, indicted Bush for "mislead(ing) the congress and the American people" by implicating the nation in an unwanted war in Iraq, violating basic human rights by kidnapping, torturing and detaining people on suspicion of terror without bringing any charges in a legal way, and reneging on all his duties as a president to observe the constitution and laws passed by congress."

4. Unfortunately, Pelosi can't really lead the charge for impeachment because
she's the one who stands to gain the most. It would look like a power grab if she pushed it. (I'm assuming that Cheney would be impeached also)

17. Good point, but
I still wish she had not said impeachment was "off the table" after the elections in November.

25. Alright then, Nancy, Come out and say so. Put it on the line, draw
it in the sand. "I can not promote impeachment but I support a vigorous investigation of alleged crimes against the people of the US".

"I can not support because it would be construed as a desire to make myself President and that is not what I seek".

I don't know, just wishful thinking on my part.

I feel as though we are all on a precipice, a very real edge, there is momentum though, a wave just may be breaking.

traveling by small plane, or having a road accident I can't avoid by vigilance, or poisoned or irradiated or anthraxed. A kind of declaration, like the declarations by politicians at the end of their TV ads: "I am blah, blah, and I approve this statement."

"I am blah, blah, and I do not plan on commiting suicide by jumping off a tall building, traveling in a small plane, or having a road accident that I can't avoid by vigilance, or being poisoned or irradiated or anthraxed."

Likewise those sufficiently deranged to support them. It seems to be in their genes.

"What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his soul?" It is of paramount importance to see things in the light of eternity. Where do you think Franco and Pinochet will be spending eternity? A loooong time.

5. Anderson a Utah success story; true leader and reformer
Impeachment is the only way we can save our democracy. There are so many impeachable crimes by this administration to choose from; I believe the alleged illegal funding of Sunni extremists in Lebanon would be a good one. Cheney to start then Bush would be my method of choice.

It should start now!

The washington world is mostly spun by ivy league insiders who rally round the stack of wealth that they worship and nurture it to make it grow. Those outsiders who try to affect change are routinely absorbed or expelled.

A) less than two years to go before Bush is out of office anyhow, B) impeach NOW while the recent revelations that emerged from the Libby trial are fresh in our minds.

nice to see someone's paying attention!:P :P

If you live in Washington, or even if you don't, follow the links that I've given and call or write to the state senators and urge them to bring this to a vote on the state senate floor. Special thanks again to Linda Boyd of Eastside Fellowship of Reconciliation http://www.washingtonforimpeachment.org/impeach/

Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 12:43 AM by grytpype
We would win that one. When the surge fails we'll be able to get Cheney out of office. Quit focusing on this impeachment that is never going to happen.

27. Maybe if they start in the next few month's Bush might be impeached by Dec. 2008
Impeachment would be great if one realizes it will take a minimum of a year, for hearings, investigations, republican foot dragging, lies and finger pointing, then perhaps trials and ultimately appeal after appeal...until it's near election time 2008...I can't see it happening , not with the bickering, frightened Dems showing very little stomach for it.

28. Oh I wish.
But I have no hope at all that any kind of impeachment proceedings will ever happen.

Bush and his monsters are destined to finish up just fine and free.

History will judge them harshly but you will still see Bush standing up on stages with other past presidents, smiling and strutting around proudly in honor of his amazing presidency.

We'll have to put up with this hideous sight for the rest of our lives.

I wish he'd at least lose his arms. He'd look better in hooks.

32. The investigation would take about a week - tops!
Congress,

There are many mulitiple violations of the Constitution by Bushco.

Pick 1 - or 2!

You don't have to do a full investigation of ALL of them and bind them into a big book before you can begin!

Pick a couple and GO!

Pick the ones that are wide open secrets like the admissinon of warrantless spying by Bush himself. Just RECOGNIZE that he admitted it and off you go!

Morans!
