What is the most ridiculous rationale for invading Iraq?
Edited on Sun Mar-04-07 05:04 PM by ck4829
Bush has changed his justification for invading Iraq more times than the average driver has changed the oil in his car.

Which of these reasons is the dumbest?

WMD - "Iraq will blow us to kingdom come in 45 minutes with smoking guns that will fire mushroom clouds (With weapons that have yet to be found)"

Family Matters - "Saddam tried to kill my daddy!"

Freedom Agenda - "We're going to invade and bomb people to spread freedom throughout the middle east! Birth Pangs!" (Of course, since invading Iraq, Iran was taken over by a hard-liner, the Palestinian Territories by Hamas, and two Asian nations got taken over by military dictatorships)

9/11 - "Saddam was somehow involved in 9/11. We don't know what he did, he did something though, we're sure of it."

Liberation - "Iraq is a dictatorship and so we're freeing the people there, yee haw!!! (Yes, and Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan are just beacons of democracy and freedom for the whole world, right?)

Terrorism - "Iraq has ties to terrorism!!!! (Hey, what country does Osama hail from, where did 15 of the 19 hijackers come from, and what country provides the ideological roots for Al Qaeda? Sure isn't Iraq.)

Something else - "Well, what is it, you tree hugging Liberal?"

4. Stabilizing oil supply and prices
I'm sure somebody said it. And it turned out to as ridiculous as any justification. I actually think * invaded just to accomplish the opposite.

6. "They Hate Us"
You know the rationale -- "They" hate "us" -- because of our freedom.

So, "they" willl "love" us once we make them free.

(After, of course, we completely destroy their country!)

7. Or you could just combine them....
"We're liberating the people of Iraq so that we can fight them over there so that we don't have to fight them over here."

One of my personal favorites.

"DOUBLETHINK, IT'S NOT JUST FOR ORWELL ANYMORE."

9. to keep the mediawhores busy
iow to throw the mwhores red meat so they could gorge themselves on bloodshed and awe and shock and dead babies etc, and leave the busheviks alone to steal amerka blind.
Now this reasoning for invading iraq wasn't very well publicised, but it should be mentioned...

12. The real question should be
not that they all weren't dumb reasons and/or outright lies, they were, but are the good citizens of the USA dumb enough to fall for that bullsh*t a second time.
Or in the stammerings of you know who...
"Fool me twice,.... can't get fooled agin'". Chimp

15. Spreading Democracy
Their culture is absolutely incompatible with the type of democracy we have (had) here in America. It'll never work. Not in a thousand years. Ironically they actually had it pretty good compared to their neighbors, and were about as close as they were gonna get. Until we bombed the crap out of them, anyway.
