I am a veteran and a citizen of the US.
I live in the District of Columbia, where I understand many of you are headed soon.
I know you have a lot on your plate: the war, the economy, etc. But please do remember that those of us in DC have a special problem: our votes don't matter.
If any of you meet with your representatives, please please PLEASE find a spare few seconds to push for DC congressional representations. We're taxpayers and veterans but we don't have a voice in the people's House. It will only change when the rest of you demand that it does.
While you are in town, there are some things to check out:
1. The new portrait gallery, at the "Gallery Place/Chinatown" stop on the red and green lines 2. Shakespeare in Washington, happening all over the place, particularly the Smithsonian museums and the Kennedy Center 3. The DC War Memorial, between Lincoln and FDR, right on Independence
And please, please, please urge your Congresscritter to recognize that we are citizens and end our taxation without representation!
