The surge hasn't worked. Violence in Baghdad is just as bad as today. Nothing much has changed- except there are more dead U.S. troops and more dead Iraqis. What happens then? I don't think anything the dems do between now and then is going to stop bushco, so what happens a few months down the road if the "surge" is a failure?

6. We're tolerating it now, aren't we? We have no recourse at the moment |
because the rethugs have us in a bind. (I really hope I'm wrong about that, but haven't been convinced otherwise) The big question is whether the rethugs will continue to accept this failure and put their 08 chances in jeopardy.

4. Unless the Democrats grow a spine |
the answer is not much. The Democratic leadership should quit worrying about how their actions might be "perceived" by the Koolaid drinkers and stand up for principle once and for all. Take a stand and quit waffling is what should be done. If idiot son wants to veto everything fine-then pass a new bill-just like the old bill and tie up the government until he geeks.

7. Agree mostly, but the dems don't have the votes in the |
Senate to pass anything. They should still try, but keep in mind that they don't have 60 votes.

8. So then make it clear who is blocking the road |
Throw the mess in the Republicans lap for a change. The Democratic leadership should adopt "Not Ready To Make Nice" as their theme song.
