What we are witnessing is an attempt to revisit the style of colonialism/country takeovers that existed back in the days of Christopher Columbus. If Bush&co. can successfully "conquer" the Middle East, then they will have control of all the oil and resources over there. The only problem is that these countries are not rolling over that easily--it won't be as easy as it was when Columbus & Co. overpowered Native Americans or many of the West Indian islands.

The Taino indians on the island of Hispaniola were almost all dead, or sent to Spain as slaves, after thirty years of Columbus and the Spanish. That is the reason that Columbus was taken back to Spain (Isabella was appalled by his treatment of the people) and why slaves were first brought from Afica. They were thought to be easier to handle, more hardy and less of a threat to the white women than the remaining Tainos. (the inhumanity of their thinking is beyond my reasoning) Did research on this and it was an eye opener to the legand we have been taught about CC. He thought he was God called to spread christianity, and he sailed with less than what I would call good purposes. His letters attest to his (insane ?) thoughts on the matter.

I will not repeat it. I will only say that I no longer think CC was an adventurous man who proved the world was not flat. It seems that no one thought that at the time CC sailed. He was on a mission to bring God to the Indies in exchange for spices for Spain. When he found the West Indies instead, he made them his mission. Some of his men were worse than even him, but he was not an angel or a blessing for the people of the islands.
