Domenici says he called prosecutor
By Jennifer Talhelm
The Associated Press
Article Last Updated: 03/04/2007 11:34:24 PM MST

Washington - U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., acknowledged Sunday that he called a federal prosecutor to ask about a criminal investigation, and he apologized for doing so, but he insisted he never pressured nor threatened his state's U.S. attorney.

The prosecutor, David Iglesias, was fired by the Justice Department in December. Iglesias says he believes he was dismissed for resisting pressure from two members of Congress before last year's election to rush indictments in a Democratic kickback investigation.

Ethics experts said Domenici's conduct may have violated Senate rules, which generally bar communications between members of Congress and federal prosecutors about ongoing criminal investigations.

15. Not just Mike. The "Bush Family Fortune" has been dirty for generations.
Dubya's grandad, Prescott Bush, made Million$$$ selling fuel
to the NAZIs during WWII. He was prosecuted and found guilty after
the war, and got a "slap on the wrist":
The U.S. Government "confiscated" his oil company...a company
that wasn't much more than a manila folder by the time the
Feds got around to "confiscating" it.

The man was as clear-cut a case of TREASON as could be, but was
never even THREATENED with a day in jail. Just "punished" by
having his business confiscated after he had sold off everything
that it "owned", and fined a PERCENTAGE of the profit he had
made from selling the Nazis the fuel that powered the tanks and
submarines they were using to kill our troops.

5. Because...
...this kind of shit goes on all the time in the business world, and people won't understand why we're holding our politicians to a higher level of ethics especially since we now are running government like a business?

24. I have little faith in any poll conducted with unscientific methods
Voluntary polls are the worse and knowing how much freepers are lurking and actual low diversity of actual posters on that thread, my conclusion is that is bunk evidence also.

25. Why waste time with this?
We don't even outlaw Nazis in this country. Why would you bother yourself with such stupidity as outlawing the Republican Party? Can't you think of anything better to focus your attention on? Suggesting we outlaw Republicans is as offensive as suggesting we outlaw gay sexual acts. People with enough sense to know you can't do that aren't saying that because they don't understand how bad the Bush's are either. What a complete waste of everybody's time.

8. We won't. Come on.
Think about what you are asking us to do - outlaw one of the parties? That's as un-American as some of the shit Ann Coulter says - I suspect what you really mean is let's go after those law-breakers who happen to be Republican. I hope that's what you mean.

10. how much criminal activity does an organization have to spawn
before it is declared a public nuisance or a criminal enterprise?

Their illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq alone has killed more people than the Mafia in its entire history in the US.

11. What profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul
I can't speak for anybody else, but if you seriously fought for this, than you would find me on the other side. If you don't know why, I'm not sure what I can do to explain it to you.

13. hate to break it you: its not just "their" illegal invasion and occupation
Last time I noticed, a majority of Democrats voted to support the IWR and the Democrats haven't done anything to end the war.

Nothing they do surprises me. Nothing they say is true. When they do say something, I just assume the OPPOSITE is the truth.
