that they don't know what to say about 'actual/real' news that affects people drastically, but they have plenty to say about 'made up' news that has no real affect on anyone.

Face it. Bush knew, he doesnt care. He cut the funding repeatedly. Its all about PR. They are cool with a Dickensian world as long as it doesnt come back to cause them problems.
