"An Inconvenient Truth" success story
Last week, I went out to dinner with my sister and her husband, and they mentioned watching Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth on pay per view the other night. They told me it was a excellent documentary and stated all the evidence to back up global warming. Even though they only believed about half of what was said, they still found it very scary, and that we need to do something about global warming before it was too late. I then cynically said "so what have you done to stop global warming?" and they said nothing so far. It actually felt a little strange since I was usually the one who pushed the liberal views onto them, and the roles were reversed.

Well to my surprise, my brother inlaw bought a hybrid car the other day. He realized that he would always argue with people about global warming and the fact that we need to do something about it, but never made any real changes himself. While I would consider him a moderate, this is a guy who voted for Bush in 2004 and used to drive a Ford Expedition, not your typical environmentally conscious liberal. He especially surprised his conservative friends who when they heard that he got a new car, they first assumed a Mercedes, Hummer, or a BMW, not a hybrid Camry.

My brother inlaw is now excited about all the cool new features with the car, all the gas money he is saving, and the fact that he can drive in the HOV lanes now by himself which is crucial for his morning commutes. The only drawback was the smaller trunk space, but it was still big enough for the crucial two golf bags. I believed he convinced the rest of my family to jump onto the hybrid bandwagon for their next car purchases. Better buy some stock in Toyota.

I thought you guys would enjoy this story about how An Inconvenient Truth is really making a difference changing people's attitudes towards global warming. In fact, the book An Inconvenient Truth is now sitting on their coffee table so all their conservative friends can read about it.

Now I feel like the hypocrite. What have I done to stop global warming?

2. So far, I've switched bulbs,
I don't keep my lights on in rooms I'm not occupying, I keep my heat turned downed low, I wash all my clothes in cold water, they still seem to come out clean. I drive a full size sedan, so I combine my trips whenever possible until I can afford to purchase a hybrid.

Thanks for the thread gravity

Kicked and recommended
