Conservatism Failed
It failed spectacularly. For almost 30 years our country has been trying to make conservative policies work, and for almost 30 years the vast majority of Americans have suffered. The money that was supposed to trickle down simply didn't, and nearly all wealth has been consolidated into the hands of the ultrawealthy and the corporations that don't give a damn about the American worker.

Granted, the 1990's gave us a brief respite under Bill Clinton, but truth be told, Mr. Clinton was pretty conservative for a democrat. I can't blame him for that, as change is usually a gradual process and he was a step in the right direction. Another democrat elected after him may have been able to keep some leftward momentum going, but we didn't get another democrat. We got...well, you know what we got.

Conservatism failed. It is a fact now painfully obvious to all but those in the deepest depths of denial who think that if we just lend them another 10-billion dollars, this next bet will pay off. For three decades they tried to make it work every way possible, but it never did. A full-scale war couldn't even help our economy after decades of abuse at the hands of conservative policy-makers.

Liberalism, on the other hand, ended the great depression and gave the middle class its most prosperous era in the history of our country. But you know, they managed to make "liberal" a dirty word based on...wait a minute, what was that based on again?

Conservatism failed. Just look around you.

1. 40 years
The start of this whole mess was with Nixon.

He was the one to start the Republican trick of running budget deficits in 1969.

He was the one who gave Kaiser the green light to move health care to "managed care".

He was the original spy-on-Americans dirty trickster.

Carter, in his 4 years, was not able to reverse course and all of Nixon's policies got reinforced big-time by Reagan.

2. You may be right.
I know that the modern conservative movement has roots going way back, but I tend to think of it reaching critical mass with the Reagan revolution. That may be more due to my age than anything. The only thing I remember about Nixon was that I was pissed when the Watergate hearings preempted The Six Million Dollar Man on TV. But that being said, it seems to me from my research that most modern-day democrats are more conservative fiscally speaking than Nixon was. And we're still suffering from the Reagan tax cuts after all.

But whether we call it 30 years or 40 years, conservatism has still been a colossal failure.

3. Conservatism Failed by your definition. By theirs (all wealth has been consolidated into the hands
of the ultra wealthy and the corporations that don't give a damn about the American worker)
It has been a resounding success.
It is just like the response to Katrina. Dim Son's response to it was a failure if you consider him an American President. IF you look at his response to it through the eyes of a idiot devoted to the notion that Government can do nothing of benefit beyond providing contracts to your crones
it was a resounding success.

4. In my estimation, "failed for 98% of the population" can be abbreviated "failed".
Being good for 2% of the population cannot be considered a win for the country.

5. IS he a miserable waste of skin? Yes. Is he an embarrassment to the USA and all decent people? YES.
Did he FAIL in HIS objectives? NO.
Do you think the corrupt cabal actually stole power to do a decent job of governance?
Hell no they did not.
The bush crime family views government office as a mechanism to self enrichment.
That is what the evil slime do.
