The Libby jury--hung like John Holmes
I have no doubt, especially since they've asked for the dictionary definition of "reasonable doubt", that there's a lone wingnut holdout.

As someone said on firedoglake, that question just smacks of "Will someone explain to this a**hole that reasonable doubt isn't the same thing as 'humanly possible'?"

This is too important for Bushco not to have tried to stack the jury. I'm not thrilled about Fitz letting the Moonie Times reporter on.

I can see this as clearly as the '00 and '04 elections. A new Katherine Harris is probably being born right this second.

2. Maybe-Maybe
Perhaps there are jurors (or juror in the singular) who want to know why Libby is up there and Cheney isn't! I can only speculate, but myself as a juror would be wanting to know this... Maybe it's felt the case is 'half baked'...and the other half that will 'cook it' is running around unfettered. Just an idea..

Yes, I think it's hung too!!

5. Well, there will have to be an Allen charge if they are really hung.
That hasn't happened yet, has it?

11. I saw that on FDL....there probably is a jerk on the panel.
I say sequester the bastards, myself. That usually speeds up the process, and prevents a recalcitrant juror from covertly meeting a defense operative behind the rose bush in the back yard...

10. I was a public defender for years, the request to define reasonable doubt is not unusual
I had several juries request a defintion (actually they would ask for additional infor on the definition since jury instructions often (always?) include a definition.

I don't read anything into it.

13. How does this theory hit you:
They might be having trouble with the obstruction charge because the prosecution has admitted to being unable to prove the crime for which the alleged obstruction was committed.

In other words, maybe the jurors were able to apply the (reasonable doubt) standard to the charges of false statements and perjury, but are getting hung up on the obstruction.

If so, that would seem to be a good thing, particularly since they've been at this a while and perhaps came to agreement on some of the charges by now.
