Blessed silence with INGRAHAM off the airwaves
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 09:50 PM by UTUSN
The scuttlebutt is that her new Faux circus is only a 3-weeks trial run, with other hosts auditioning in turn, for that 6 P.M. timeslot (horrible GIBSON's ex-niche).

Laura Ingraham Remains Off the Air Over 'Contract Tactic'

Syndicated Laura Ingraham remains off the air, after she says Talk Radio Network pulled the plug in what she calls a "tactic in contract negotiations" in a message on her web site. Ingraham also notes that the decision to remove her show from the airwaves was made "unilaterally by Talk Radio Network" and "against my will and over my protest."

Additionally, Ingraham said that "any notion that I am leaving radio is also completely false. After all my years on the air, you know that I would never voluntarily abandon you during such a critical time for our country." She also quashed rumors that she 'took a leave of absence' or walked out on her radio show. (06-11-08)

Ingraham Tells Listeners She Will Return Soon
'DON'T BELIEVE THE BLOGS'

.... But with Sean Hannity now locked up in a new deal, options for Laura to relocate her program have been greatly reduced.

That's why your Radio Equalizer expects the situation to resolve itself in short order: she simply has no other place to go other than straight back to the Talk Radio Network and the contract she signed long ago. Ingraham is simply not holding the cards this time. ....

Laura Ingraham Radio Absence Still Mysterious
AWKWARD MOMENTS

Ingraham Takes Award, Doesn't Explain Radio Silence

...But the biggest clue to date has come from Ingraham herself, with this note now posted on her website (UPDATE-- it's been removed from the site):

IMPORTANT NOTE TO LAURA LISTENERS

Due to contractual obligations, for the present time I am unable to reveal why I am not currently hosting The Laura Ingraham Show. Rest assured, this absence is not of my choosing, nor is it health or family related. I am ready, willing and eager to continue the conversation we started seven years ago about politics and the culture. (Heck, if cancer couldn't keep me off the airwaves for long, nothing will.)

Keep checking the site for a schedule of my appearances on the Fox News Channel. All queries regarding my on-air status should be directed to Talk Radio Network's management at 541 474 2297 or send an email. Thanks for sticking with me, and...Power to the People!

UPDATE: according to an industry source, Ingraham may have brought some of her troubles upon herself by possibly violating the terms of her contract: "Laura was 'locked out' because she's been negotiating secretly with individual Citadel-ABC program directors to get on their stations in the event they lose Sean Hannity. She's looking to make $4 million a year, far more than her show currently generates in terms of revenue.

"She was operating behind the back of Mark Masters and the Citadel-ABC people have been talking to her. She does not want to quit radio, quite the contrary. She really wants TV, too," said the insider.

Ingraham is apparently looking to move her show into a live midmorning slot on key ABC talk stations should Hannity leave the company, as many expect. This scenario would see hosts from WABC, WMAL/ Washington and WBAP/ Dallas slide into afternoon drive slots.

A fond look back:

p. 253: .... well, that iconic leopard miniskirt, we often joked, launched Laura Ingraham's career. .... ...I often teased Laura, a bit of a tomboy who never bothered fixing her limp hair or wearing akeup, that she didn't know how to put herself together as a woman.

p. 254: .... ...her one desire in life was to leave her law firm and get herself on television as a political pundit, despite the fact that she was the only person I knew who didn't appear to own a book or regularly read a newspaper.

p. 254: .... ...she frequently attacked feminism for making women unhappy and resentful, while betraying those same qualities in her commentary. .... 'Some of us,' Ingraham once remarked,'are proud to be meanies.'

P. 255: .... ...she was also a wicked gossip, befriending the likes of Rush Limbaugh and George Will, then repeating their often creepy confidences to me.

p. 255: .... In candid moments, she confided she didn't believe much of what she was saying on the airwaves. ...the pain of a difficult childhood, and her tortured relations with men... .... I hadn't known of Laura's antigay past at Dartmouth, where, along with her then-boyfriend Dinesh D-Souza, she had participated in the infamous outing of gay students, who were branded 'sodomites,' until I cringed as I read about her Dartmouth Review exploits in a 1997 profile in Vanity Fair.

p. 256: .... On more than one occasion, I had taken her barhopping along the gay strip in Washington where she seemed to have a blast. .... ...Laura, in a drunken stupor, crawled through the packed two-story dance club on her hands and knees looking for me. ...she had managed to leave me a series of violent messages, threatening to 'break every window in (my) house'... .... ...Laura had asked... Debbie Stone, to speak on her behalf to Vanity Fair... .... ...why she backed out, she said she wasn't about to cover up for Laura: 'What am I supposed to do? Talk about how she pulled a gun on a boyfriend after he broke up with her?'

p. 256: After reading the article, I was chagrined and felt used but never confronted Laura about it, though Congressman Barney Frank... did. .... ...proceeded to denounce Laura's history of gay bashing. I remained mute during the harangue, because I agreed with everything Frank was saying. He then turned to me and snapped, 'And if you want to front her, that's fine.' I was speechless, red-faced and humiliated. Of course, Frank was right, but I didn't have the courage or self-regard to do anything about it. Blithely, I continued to revel in the gossip-page glitz and heartless sarcasm of my right-wing fag hags--the Ariannas, the Lauras, and the Ann Coulters. At this point in life, this transparently empty right-wing circle was all I had.

1. Of All Of The Wingnut Refuse...
I find Ms. Ingraham to be the most annoying. Rush et al can be amusing for a few minutes, until nausea overtakes. But Ingraham has zero redeeming value: just a nonstop whine-o-rama.

3. I once tried to characterize what it was that I hated most about her
Then it hit me - she was the eternal spoiled college sophomore.

Endlessly mocking famous liberals, oversimplistic analysis of EVERYTHING and a sickening eagerness to win people over to 'her side'.

But in the end, her snark was pathetic, her "jokes" were sad and she derived pleasure mostly from misspoken, thouroughly unimportant quotes.

You could actually hear the pathetic little girl in her, crying out for acceptance.

2. Matthews once called her attractive
I find lanced, weeping boils and weeping anal cysts more attractive.
