Who Owns Hillary4McCain.com? DomainTools To the Rescue

A bit of research turns up a probable registrant of Hillary4McCain.com.

I read a story on Wired.com today about the domain name Hillary4Mccain.com, which was registered with bogus whois information. The John McCain camp denies having anything to do with the domain.

So who owns the domain? I did a little research on DomainTools, and it leads to one person: Charles Reyna.

Here’s what I did:

1. Looked up Hillary4McCain.com

2. Did a reverse IP search to see the seven other web sites hosted on the same IP

3. Looked up the whois on all 7 domains. Several had whois privacy, but all of the others are registered by one Charles Reyna of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Of course it could just be a case of another person hosting his or her sites on the same IP. I tried to call Reyna on the phone number listed in whois, but it’s not a working number. My next step is to file invalid whois complaints on the domains. GoDaddy will suspend the domains if the information isn’t updated. I’ll update this story if I get anywhere.

Checking at veromi.com turns up a bunch of people named Charles Reyna, but only one in Sante Fe. He's Charles Anthony Reyna, age 41, shown as having lived in Texas (Dallas, Houston, Bay City, Austin), New Mexico (Santa Fe, Albuquerque), and Colorado (Denver.)


On edit: Googling on "Charles A. Reyna" brought up a gay porn webmaster of that name, and I originally mentioned that and wondered if it could be him. But a check of his blog showed him saying he's been mostly living in San Francisco for the last 3 years -- and is a vegan, besides -- so he's clearly not Charles Anthony Reyna of Santa Fe.

You know, the "Pissed-Off Hillary Fanatic/Obama Haters Meets Sex And the City" board. The one that is trying to stage a full-fledged write-in-Hillary-or-vote-for-McCain campaign. The one that's trying to make hating Barack Obama as hip and galpally and chichipoopoo as kicking off your Manolo Blahniks and knocking back Cosmos with your fave galpals after a day of power shopping.

It's really pretty laughable when you look at it, but it's also as obnoxious as hell.
