Impeachment rally packs auditorium
By HOWARD WEISS-TISMAN, Reformer Staff

Monday, March 5
BRATTLEBORO -- Last year, the resolution calling on the impeachment of President George Bush was started in southern Vermont.
Sunday night, about 200 people packed the Brattleboro Union High School auditorium to welcome home a three-day barnstorming tour of the state by supporters of the call for impeachment.

The group was led by Dan DeWalt, the Newfane selectman who introduced the question in his town last year. He was joined by two Iraq War veterans, an author who wrote a book on impeachment and Cindy Sheehan.

Over the weekend members traveled through 11 Vermont towns, drumming up support for the impeachment resolution that appears on the town meeting warnings of 27 towns this year.

2. Well, hard to see how 200 people "pack" an auditorium. Nice crowd, yes, but even a small high
school auditorium isn't going to be packed with 200 people.

3. On a cold VT night? That's a heck of a turnout.

4. Not questioning the turnout, just arguing for more precise language.
A "packed auditorium" is when every seat is filled and the overflow is either standing in the aisles and around the back or sitting in folding chairs that have been brought in. The fire marshall shows up and bars the door. That's a packed auditorium. Two hundred people doesn't cut it, sorry. I don't care how cold it is.
