I personally don't have anything against the beard. But seriously, in politics, beard = you are not a factor. When I saw Gore sporting one, that's when I knew he just didn't give a shit any more and truly had no more political ambitions. Of course now that he's clean-shaven again, there's the possibility that he may jump in the race. Like most folks, I wouldn't mind supporting the "new" version of Al Gore.

One of the things in 2000 was the complaint amongst voters that Gore came across as stiff or conceited - generally inaccessible - in spite of the fact he is known to be charming and very open in person.
