Religiously Insane are upset about the new $1 coin
Why is it they need to feel persecuted? New E-mail going around:

Little things DO make a difference!!!!

U.S. Government to Release New Dollar Coins
You guessed it

'IN GOD WE TRUST' IS GONE!!!!

Who originally put 'In God We Trust' onto our currency?

My bet is that it was one of the Presidents on these coins.

All our U.S. Government has done is Dishonor them, and disgust me!!!

If ever there was a reason to boycott something, THIS IS IT!!!!

DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE

Together we can force them out of circulation.

Please send to all on you mail list !!!

3. Congressional Republicans in the 1950's put the phrase there.
Last time they controlled Congress before the 1990's. Are you surprised?

16. No, another Republican, Salmon P. Chase, did it.

During the Civil War.

Edited to add-Lincoln wanted to put this phrase of Jesus on the greenbacks that were being printed, which, like modern bills, had no backing in bullion-"Silver and gold have I none, but what I have I give unto thee."

21. You're both right. The motto's use has not been uninterrupted nor on all currency.
It started during the Civil War, but disappeared from the nickel in the 1880s, not to reappear until 1938 on the Jefferson nickel. It was made mandatory on coins except the penny and nickel in 1908, but was an option for those.

The motto was first added to paper money in 1957, following the law passed by Congress and signed by President Eisenhower in mid-1956. The law was passed in response to the "Red Scare" of "godless Communism".

I have a PS
I am not a firm believer. I look at the things that happen and say this country is not longer protected by God. If God let people like bush and his administration take over then we are SOL.

23. That's really a very good verse to use against those fundies
who are anti-tax and/or believe that Jesus would want religion mixed with our government... "And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him." http://bible.cc/mark/12-17.htm">Mark 12:17 :)

25. I am still waiting for all those rich guys to build, and fix my roads.
And it was so nice that our founders let these people go to the church they wanted after all our English parents were not doing that. Just what this country needs. Church running it and no taxes to keep the place going. I love how they think. What are they teaching them in those Church schools any how?

start by feeding the hungry or throwing in a few nails for Habitat. Would Jesus give a shit about coins? I don't think so.

I need to know about the rel. right

Not smart enough to find their message or ask someone else about it, they deem it as an evil plot to kill god

I say, let them spread that message far and wide
It'll be easier for us to identify them as the idiots that they are
