Conservative Bloggers Set to Dump Ann Coulter
"(There was) a smattering of laughter, but not from this corner. (There are only) crickets chirping," writes Malkin. It wasn't funny, or even clever. I got a good chuckle out of Meg Hughes column telling Barbara Walters to hire Ann Coulter over at 'The View.' The piece hit just a few hours before Ann's f-bomb failure.

Coulter's unfunny slur is drawing heat, not just from the left but from the right as well. In 'An Open Letter to CPAC Sponsors and Organizers Regarding Ann Coulter' the bloggers ask. "What is next? If Senator Barack Obama is the de facto Democratic Presidential nominee next year will Coulter feel free to use a racial slur? How does that help conservatism?"

 Isn't it wonderful to see them eating their own?

It couldn't happen to a nicer monster.

5. No. Not nice to see them eat their own.
I want all their ugliness on display. And see them be proud of it.

20. You nailed it. She wouldn't be on Ann's case if

she didn't see an opportunity to rise in the world of right-wing slime.

4. Ann couldn't possibly show up everyday to do The View
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 08:06 AM by underpants
It is pretty clear that her column is just a last minute compilation of scribbled notes on bar napkins she throws at her personal assistant.

7. I'm not much for piling on.
But I'm trying to find something to say in Coulter's defense. Ummmmmm, she was trying to make a light joke, but the hellspawn that possesses her soul took over her mouth? She has a very coherent version of Tourette's Syndrome? The lights got in her eyes?

The factoid I like best about this is that she was alluding to Isaiah Washington, who checked into rehab after referring to a co-star as a "faggot." Do who, now? Does Ann watch that much Entertainment Tonight?

All this harrumphing from conservatives doesn't mean much. They friggin' LOVE them some Ann Coulter, and it's not like she hasn't said equally heinous things many, many times before.

12. She needs to take a page from Mel Gibson on how to repent properly.
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 08:28 AM by cryingshame
A well done apology might even work to her favor... in the eyes of the right wing extremists.

17. Yeah, but she's baffled at the notion she should repent.
As far as she's concerned, it was a lighthearted, joshing way to make her universal point, that all liberals and Democratic men are limpwristed sissies (and the women are mannish dykes). She'd never apologize for that; her whole career is based on it.

Can't take credit for that analysis; cribbed from Glenn Greenwald at Salon.

9. Ann Coulter is a gift to Dems right now.
By using a discriminatory slur to promote her own book sales, she's helping us out by being a representative of the seriously disturbed right wing. The worse they look, the better we look.

11. It'll Be More Apparent Several Months From Now
The mood of the country has shifted in the past two years...from Schaivo to Katrina to Iraq to Outsourcing...the "charms" of the right wing have eroded as one hypocrisy after another has exposed the raw side of the right wing that was long shielded in "codespeak" and glossed over by the corporate media.

There's a large and growing blogosphere that now openly avoids the corporate media filters and is starting to counteract the long established right wing spin machine in "framing the message" as to how this story will play out.

I think we're seeing a classic battle for the "hearts & minds" of the corporate media as to how they follow this story. Will they chastize Antrhax Annie and banish her to the Michael Moore corner of political discourse or will she to schmooze with Matt Lauer or grace the cover of Time again? The light is now glaring on the right wing hate machine and will they support Coultergeist or try to ignore her.

16. On Faux Noise He Did
We gave him legitimacy by making Farenehit 9/11 a major hit and financial success for Mr. Moore in 2004.

Meanwhile in the parallel universe, he joined the cartoon gallery of evil characters...strawman people like Coultergeist were the polar opposites and thus the "balance". Thus, Annie could shoot her mouth and she was an "entertainer"...just like Moore. Ya know...work with me here on this.

Remember, these are the folks still living with the "Hillary killed Vince Foster after throwing furniture at Bill in a rage about her lesbian relation with Janet Reno over the black baby Bill fathered while raping Juanita Broderick".

Cheers...

10. Little late to the party aren't ya? It's not like this is the worst thing that she's said, she
should have been disowned by any media a long time ago. Haven't they been listening to her rants all these years?

"Oh she was a nice person until she killed that 37th person, once she killed that 37th person it was just OVER THE LINE for me!"

21. Yes, it's odd that this is sticking. Nobody on the

right objected to her saying that liberals should be KILLED or smearing 9/11 widows as if they were glad to have their husbands vaporized so they'd get some money from the govt. and insurance policies.

But I'm glad something the Slime Queen said finally stuck to her and she can't seem to secrete enough slime to get rid of it.

Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 08:31 AM by maine_raptor
At the top of the GD page there are ads for various links and one of them is for an "Ann Coulter Ringtone".

Just what the hell is an "Ann Coulter Ringtone" anyways?

And why would I want one?
