I can't remember, perfectly, but wasn't that the origins of the wiretapping charges against Nixon in his articles of impeachment? (You have to give some credit to Nixon, he did have good enough sense to see the boulder rolling down the mountain.)

1. Let's not be revisionists. Nixon had AG Mitchell arrest 10,000 D.C. demonstrators;
he kept an "Enemies' List"; he had Daniel Ellsberg persecuted, including via burglary; etc.

The "leaks" Nixon wanted to stop were about his ILLEGAL bombing of and incursion into Cambodia.
