With a very explicit order for Libby's personal protection included in the deal.
Thats how Fitzgerald operates.

Fitz is operating under orders that make him a proxy of the AG. I don't think he can be fired, but, I'm not sure if this trial will end that.

16. Actually he has gone to some pains to point out exactly that he is NOT |
|
an 'independent prosecutor.'

5. I think Libby is worthless to Fitz now, unless he has documentation of other misdeeds. |
|
His word, if not supported by docs, is too easily impeached by others' defense because he could be viewed as ready to say anything to avoid prison time. Much discussion of this previously at firedoglake

12. If he has documents he becomes very important. Would likely get pardoned |
|
immediately rather than at the end of administration term.
I'm curious about the sealed indictment Fitz is rumoured to have in his pocket and whether or not he has enough to go after others. It sure seemed like there was enough testimony during Libby trial to start.

9. Can fitz influence sentencing now that the verdict is in? |
|
If not, there is no advantage to Libby cooperating.

I suspect Fitz is working with Libby's attorneys to get him to "flip" on Karl and maybe even Cheney for a lighter sentence. Is he willing to go to prison for those two (barring being pardoned by bush, that is) and leave his "wife and two small children" (per CNN)?
Oh, to be a fly on THAT wall!

14. Yep. Libby won't have to hope for *'s pardon |
|
if he names names. Cheney's head is on the block.
That's why he will be resigning "for health reasons" because of that very convenient blood clot.
