Former Cheney senior aide: "The President ought to pardon (Libby) by sundown."

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=2899477

<snip>

One former Cheney senior aide told ABC News, "It's a very sad day. It's outrageous. The President ought to pardon (Libby) by sundown."

Any guesses who this senior aide is? Mary Matalin?

13. Nixon was never even put on trial...

... and Ford preemptively pardoned him! Nope.

We need an effort from the Democrats in the Senate to draw up some form of constitutional ammednment that would limit pardons to those outside the executive branch's direct employ or a previous administrations' direct employ, and perhaps other limitations as well. There's just too much power to allow them to continue to have this criminal corruption in office/pardon if we're caught/recycle back into office gravy train that we've had over the years. Something with teeth needs to stand in the way of it!

Either that or find some way to provide means to overturn a pardon if it was given as part of complicity in a larger criminal conspiracy.

16. Oh, right I forgot about Tricky Dicky and the Ford pardon
....Gerald Ford also manipulated much of the findings used in the Warren Report on the JFK assassination so that the lone angry nutty assassin theory would hold. Gerald Ford should have been impeached also. Instead, he is getting public infrastructure named after him.

9. Pardoning Libby translated means "Impeach me NOW! I disregard the spirit of the law!"

... and fall under the definition of "high crimes and misdemeanors" by letting this criminal off.

12. Frankly, I hope he does.
That might finally start a fire under the 71% of people who disapprove of Bush's job. I'd like to see him try to handle that one. Who cares about Libby, he's just a failed novelist and an errand boy. Let Bush make this conviction about him. Pardon Libby, Bush. It's just the right thing to do! :rofl:

For the record, I doubt it was Matlin. I think she's an idiot, but her husband is a shrewd enough politician to know what that would do to Bush. Then again, she is a really, really, really stupid idiot, so it may have been her.

15. Doesn't matter if he does
It's too late now, the trial has already happened, Congress has the ammo ready and waiting if they simply were to reach out and load the guns. Pardoning Libby would just be putting a bullseye on Bush's ass.

17. Democrats Need To Say This ....
'Just remember, if you see President Bush announcing that he has pardoned Scooter Libby remember that the President has just used his power of office to coverup the unlawful acts of those in his administration who have broken the law with impunity, as well as his own actions.'
