Scooter Libby found NOT GUILTY of lying to FBI investigators! (Fox)
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 03:55 PM by HamdenRice
Well, of course we're talking about in the Bizarro World of Fox News. Thank Cannonfire blogger for bringing this to our attention:

Cannonfire writes:

Behold: A screen grab that will live in infamy.

In case you woke up late, the jury declared Scooter Libby guilty on four out of five charges. Since he was acquitted of one charge, Fox could, I suppose, argue that this crawling text is technically accurate.

As you know, the Murdochian hordes have tried this sort of thing before. Was it twice or three times that Fox identified the disgraced Mark Foley as a Democrat? Obviously, this kind of thing does not happen by accident. Such puerile tactics must work.

Soon, you may expect to see the following words crawl their way beneath Brit Hume's mug: BUSH TRIES TO END WAR STARTED BY CLINTON.

4. I expect to hear exactly this line...
from the local freeper around these parts. It's crude, but effectively, and the terminally stupid will parot this line exactly for the rest of the news cycle.

5. fairly unbalanced
If scooter got sentenced to 20 years in jail out of the maximum 25, they'd report on the 5 unsentenced years.

6. We saw this too. They keep running the lie.
Working at Fox really requires imagination these days.

Let's see: Scooter's convicted in a federal court of "lying to the FBI investigators" regarding his conversations with Tim Russert and Fox runs a banner all day long that proclaims to its idiotic cult audience that "Scooter Libby found NOT GUILTY of lying to FBI investigators".

Fair and Balanced. Absolutely.

9. The question is, whether this is spin or ...
a convenient "mistake" like identifying Mark Foley as a Democrat?

8. When you say one thing to the FBI and something else to the grand jury
It means that you're lying at least once. Going in, the prosecutor couldn't tell for sure which time Libby was lying, so he charged Libby with lying both times. Libby was found not guilty of lying twice. Whoop de do.

16. This is "imprinting" much like a bird hatching from an egg.
For the rest of their lives those with mentality of a Fox news follower will believe "Libby is not guilty". It does not matter who "Libby" is, they are "not guilty".

1. GUILTY on two counts of perjury.

2. GUILTY on one count of obstruction of justice.

3. GUILTY on one count of making false statements.

An oversight on Fox's part? :sarcasm:

29. I guess it's the first amendment that allows individuals to lie with impunity
unless they're under oath. I have no idea why any corporation is allowed to ever lie, certainly not one so critical to informing the citizens. Why aren't corporations put under an oath at all times they legally exist?

Maybe Fox meant that since Libby was convicted of "perjury", he never "lied".
