Is there any way to find out how many people get political info from the net?

I'm talking aobut people who actually look for info or to verify what they heard instead of just listening to the MEDIA! You can't just assume anyone who frequents the net pays any attention to politics. I think all the info available and YOUTUBE for sure, has helped everyone get clopser to who the candidates really are, but I'd love to know what % of voters pay enough attention to see the truth.

1. You can check the traffic on the site using Alexa...

Just plug in the names of the sites and it will tell you how many people visit.

It only gives you a general number, not anything specific, like how many people were stupid enough to believe McCain supported Webb's GI Bill (he didn't).

I suspect there's no way to do it, but the reaction to Alan in the Va. vote indicated there are a lot of people paying a lot more attention to what's available on the net and things like Youtube than the media would wish! They can promote what they want, and try as they might, the truth seems to be getting out to a lot of people anyway!

...FOX "news" posts different information than say The Nation.

The problem is the FOX websites have more traffic than The Nation does. (I checked them on Alexa and FOX hovers around .3%, while The Nation is close to 0%)

Plus, what if someone gets their info from email? Or a news aggregator site like Fark.com?

I doubt the GOP-controlled corporate media even cares how many people visit websites with user-made content; in the long-run it's less work for them. How many times have you seen the "news shows" play a YouTube clip and blather on about it for 2-3 minutes?

Just google some key words (you can do it by domain in the advanced settings). I'm sure some research house has examined this exact thing.

My guess is if you are under 35 it's more than 50% of your news comes from the net. If you are over 35, more than 50% comes from traditional mass media. Obviously pulling this out of my a-hole, but that's my round guess.

the advantage that the internet has, in this regard, is the wide variety of sources (vs. the now single-source/fully constipated/fully corporate owned 'main stream media' ~ some rightfully call it 'corporate pravda').

In answer to your question: "how many people get political info from the net?"

Answer: Only 'homeland security' knows for sure! x(

Even if you knew precisely how many unique visitors there were to every site, minute by minute, 24/7, you'll never know if or what they're reading, much less comprehending.

anymore than anywhere else?

Google "Obama + Muslim" and you'll get over 9 million hits. What's the truth?

As to an actual percentage value; it makes no odds. It is abysmally low. Thus it has always been.
