...I've been monitoring the news from the sublime to the mundane over the course of the last few days. Here's my question, will mankind survive this century or is the worm about to turn and we are about to become an extinction event?
I'm not very encouraged at this point.

We seem incapable of that as a species, though, so the top 1% will probably survive while the rest of us are wiped out by famine, disease and resource wars.

...necessary to reproduce in sufficient numbers. There would be a steady decline until only unsustainable pockets remain and then, well, you get the picture.
