i heard this on "wait, wait, don't tell me" and they said it was a true story and jenna bush's new book reminded me of it.

pia zadora was playing ann frank on stage in amsterdam (i think) and she was so bad that when the gestapo showed up, someone in the audience yelled out, "she's in the attic."

I have to admit I was about to post that I hadn't heard that it was Pia Zadora. Although if you've seen any of her work you might think it was very plausable.

Most sane people would be praying for any secret police to turn up and arrest her in mid-performance. KGB, Gestapo, Homeland Security ...

6. The story of Anne Frank came out long after

the gestapo was gone. I think the joke is more about Pia's talent than the part she was playing. :rofl:
