Yeah, so that iPhone which will be tied to freaking Cingular, guess what?

There is a rumor that they'll be giving away freaking 18 months of freaking service!

So in other words, that $500 price tag, well, it's a steal. Think about how much you spend in a year. That's more than enough savings to buy an iPhone. And not that, it's going to be the coolest phone around.

1. All I want from a phone

is the ability to make and get PHONE calls. I don't need email, pictures, videos, TV, etc. on my phone. Especially why do you want these distractions on a cell phone so you won't be paying attention as to what's going on around you. Driving and yakking is dangerous enough-try driving and looking at the screen. and then there's the guy who was walking along talking on his phone and didn't notice the train coming as he walked across the tracks.

3. Since I carry a cell, a PDA and an iPod, it would be an improvement for me to

have them all in one.

I use my PDA to access my email and web browse when I'm out of the office, as well as for word and excel and scheduling purposes.

And so far I've managed to never do any of that on train tracks.

I had a Newton years ago and I will be getting iPhone just as a replacement for Newton.

The fact that I can place calls is gravy.

5. I've been waiting for this for about six years. I gave up my cell until I

could get something that contained all the things that I would need. Iphone is it.

About the guy walking onto the tracks: stupid people do stupid things. I'm all for laws preventing driving and cell phone use.
I have been in too many close calls (pardon the pun) where I have almost been hit by both cars and bikes whose drivers were using cell phones.

no way is cingular going to give up the way they make money. I mean I guess they could give you a 'sign a five year deal, get 18 months free' thingy, but not a straight up gift.

Regardless I pay something like $50 a mo. to Cingular just for unlimited media.

The only thing I need on the phone is push email, and I am assuming that the iPhone will have this capability, so more than likely I'm buying one :)
