9. Exactly. The GOP sheeple will look at it as if it's a photo.
I cannot tell you how many times people have come to the wiki based on a Stephen Colbert joke and gotten mad.

We have complaints all the time about how the content is inaccurate.

Oh, and don't get me started on how many times content is deleted or reverted to a previous version because someone doesn't get that it's all a joke.

Colbert's picture is on every page, for cryin' out loud!

6. Right. And Hitchcock really needed to show Janet getting stabbed in the shower
or the scene would have never worked.

10. Yep. Whenever I want to treat my right-wing relatives to a good satire...
I always put on my DVD of Psycho. :)

No, I'm not missing your point. But considering that a magazine that is usually only noticed by latte-sipping elitists is getting national airplay by MSM for a cover that only reinforces the reactionary fears of people who need to be slapped in the face with context so they can GET the satire, then Obama doesn't benefit, so this attempt at satire doesn't work.

and in a national venue.

And Obama can benefit if he's smart enough to go for it.

Aside from what he's currently doing, which is condemning it?

that make no sense at all. They're saying I'm a Muslim while they attack me for sitting in a Christian Church. It's just politics".

23. I wonder why he didn't respond like that.
Maybe he didn't think it was funny?

One can only wonder, but that's my guess. He's had to deal before with "all kinds of rumors about me". Why couldn't he just brush it off his shoulder again?

31. Probably a little of both.
All handlers are image-conscious, but personally I don't think Obama has a problem laughing at some of the ridiculous portrayals of himself, like at the debate when they showed the clip of Clinton mocking Obama and he complimented her on her comedic timing. On the other hand, this wasn't just him, it was his wife too. He's made it pretty clear that candidate's wives should be off-limits, so I think that factor might have played into his decision regarding the campaign's response to the New Yorker cover.

I'm sick of it being ok, not just ok but actually applauded for it, to be ignorant in this country.

AWAY from the wingnuts? And isn't ridiculing their obstinate stupidity one way to do it?

27. Apparently Psycho was a dark sarcastic comedy to the poster
and then Jaws didn't show the shark in the first hour which made the film even
more sarcastic, sardonic and comedic.

The New Yorker rocks for putting in the wingnuts faces. Because that's what they're doing.

33. That makes it funny. Good job
It needs something that tells you that it is satire other than it is published by the New Yorker. Limbaugh or Hannity would work too.
