So when a company like Fannie Mae, a privatized company that pays its executives millions of dollars to keep them on the right track, have troubles what happens but they go whining to the government for financial help.

So it would be socialism if the government owned Fannie Mae, but it’s cool with the righties if they are a private corporation that the government guarantees not to fail. And their exec’s continue to scrap off millions for themselves, like they earn it.

Dang if people aren’t stupid and gullible.

1. We do have a form of socialism:
Risk is socialized; only profit is privatized. The taxpayers bear the risk of a business' failure, but the shareholders get the benefit of its profits.

3. Yep, corporate socialism.

A welfare state for major corporations. Whenever a big company gets in over its head through excessive greed or fraudulent practices, the trusty taxpayer will step in to save the day. It's good to know that, no matter what happens, we won't see any multinational companies sitting around on street corners, begging for spare change. They'll be well looked after.

4. Socialism can work, if applied correctly
Otherwise it lends itself to corruption

Of course Capitalism is even worse in that arena

5. Yup, Power corrupts
Unregulated capitalism leads to busts & booms and destruction of our earth...not to mention faulty information services or propaganda riddled media, and take over of governments via bought politicians. Corporatized government=fascism.

The best forms of government in my judgment seem to be those with regulated capitalism combined with social programs to ensure that the commons and infrastructure are supported.

8. Social programs are needed in some circumstances to protect those that
can't protect themselves. Capitalism is fine in areas that are not necessities for life, like TV's, vcr's, cars, etc.

Sadly, the ending has a problem: America gets screwed in the end.

Fight Club is much better.
