So * wants to let the oil companies drill at US shores
and the Congress is still against it. It is amazing how he plays the guilt card by saying the "No to drilling" by the Democratic Congress is the reason for the high gas prices ..... how long did * "govern" with a Republican Congress?

It is so clear. Only 6 months left in the office, * wants to give one last gift to his cronies. It is sickening. I hope the Congress doesn't bulk and stands to the law. Esp since a lot of States already said they won't allow drilling at their shores.

(Please excuse any Grammar mistakes. I am sure I made some)

1. Would anyone care to remind these jokers
that drilling offshore of the gulf or the east coast is just begging to get nailed by a hurricane?

Forget the fact they already have more contracts than they know what to do with, it makes no sense to drill where Mother Nature will drill back.

Details.

2. And esp. since it won't do shit to the gas price
do they really believe that people are so stupid to believe that it will affect the prices at the gass station in a short term?

Money would be better invested in finding ways to get away from the oil dependence.

3. "it will not affect the prices at the gas station in a short term?"
It won't do much for the long term either.

It's more BS from the RWing to help out their Big Oil donors. Offshore Oil Drilling won't yield oil until 2024.

5. Exactly.
But in 2024, who will still be cooling their heels in dino fuel and still be solvent enough to care?

You can only fleece the people who can afford to at least try to pay you. You can also only fleece the people who want to try to pay you. There are so many more people willing to do the Carter thing and search for alteratives these days than in the '70s, and there were plenty of people willing to do it then.

Big Oil is over. If we need to keep it around as a machine lubricant, at least for a while? Makes sense. But as a fuel, eventually it's got to go. Carter tried to tell us it was time to deal with it in the '70s and... yeah. Regardless of the manufactured Reagan BS that came after, Carter was right. There are alternatives.

It has to go. It's obvious. Good riddance, imo.

4. It's just the idiot in chief trying to create a scape goat
instead of dealing with the problem yet again.

7. Congress needs to push a clean energy (including conservation) alternative.
A compromise may be the only politically acceptable solution. If we get some concessions, the oil companies may find offshore drilling doesn't pay.

9. And it's got to be done NOW
Ever notice that he has his "pet projects" that suddenly take on HUGE importance and that Congress MUST DEAL WITH THEM or else some disaster will occur? And of course, the Dems are the ONLY ones "blocking this vital legislation".

And of course, he's never mentioned it before, so why is it so important?

And do you also notice that it's always some single bill with a specific goal? No long-term strategies. No research or feasibility studies. No input from experts.

Everything and I mean everything seems to be done with the sole purpose of political gain.

13. I heard there's Oil
In the waters around Kennebunkport. I think that oil speculators should put an oil platform right outside (not within the area) the Bush family property.

Anyone else hear about the oil just off the coast of Kennebunkport? (Wink, wink).
