There are a few (maybe) Congresscritters ,like Kucinich, who really want to impeach Bush/Cheney. The rest of the Democrats want us to think that they are doing something about Bush (see Conyers' and Wexler's countless petitions and proposed hearings). They attempt to subpoena Rove and others, but they lack the ability to force attendence. Pelosi, Conyers, Wexler, and others want to appear to be doing something against Bush, but they need him. They run and exist under the cause of "holding Bush accountable" but what have they done? Bush will coast out of office in a few months untouched by the Democratic Congress.
So sign petitions telling them to investigate or impeach if it makes you feel better.
The Dems rely on the false paradigm of the "dems v. repubs". The democrats run as anti-republicans, as the republicans run as anti-democrats. They want to maintain a balance of the apparent struggle of "good vs bad". If the republicans were defeated, we might begin to hold the democrats more accountable and when they refused to act on our behalf, we would remove them. They only need to appear slightly more palatable than republicans in our eyes so we will vote for them.
The Democrats NEED Bush to justify their own existence. Without Bush, we would not need Pelosi, Conyers and others and we would replace them.
