2. You mean because Christ opposed torture?
Edited on Tue Jul-15-08 04:35 PM by SpiralHawk
Torture itself is actually unAmerican. It's just a republicon homelander 'family values' thing.

So I think it's perfectly American for Jesus Christ to go on opposing the EVIL of torture -- which has undoubtedly been spawned by SATAN or the ANTICHRIST, or are they the same entity?

"As you do unto the least of your brethern, so you do unto me."

3. He's probably right,...
...but just because something is "un-American" doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. It's getting to the stage where the term "un-American" is synonymous with "not stupid, venal, self-serving, petty minded, superstitious, and mean-spirited."

I'm sure Boss HOeniG didn't mean it that way, of course.

4. Isn't that like a junior high philosphy argument?
Everything we do is for selfish reasons. People sacrifice because it makes them feel good, so it's still selfish.

Ancient argument, debunked by anyone with a brain from a number of directions. FOX interviews some real winners, don't they?

5. While I'm not American myself...
it's never struck me that you have to be a psychopath to be American!

You're sure that's not from The Onion?

Perhaps he needs to team up with Maggie "There Is No Such Thing as Society" Thatcher!

6. Wow. He sure is working hard to justify his entirely selfish existance
"We're in this culture of altruism now which worships self-sacrifice." Hoenig concluded scornfully. "Anything you do for yourself is bad. Any time you sacrifice your own wants or desires to help someone else, well that's inherently good. I just think there's something unbelievably un-American about that. People should pursue their own wants."

What the fuck country is HE living in? If anything, America-especially the US media-has been glorifying greed and selfishness for more than two decades now.

Two quotes from Gandhi:

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.

Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men.

8. Question to the Christian Fundamentalist.
Do you believe we are "One nation, under God"

or "300 million self-interested individuals, under Mammon"

It gives them no "wiggle room".
