water temps in the Daytona Beach area have been 80 or higher for many weeks now. Took a bit of a dip over the 4th - but that was only 20 miles or so.
The water is too warm. Any storms getting started will fuel rapidly.
on edit - I was referring to water temps being too high too early. The air temp has been quite comfortable - made it through most of June with no AC. Quite unusual for the Daytona area.

The air temp in the are has been quite comfortable up until the past couple of weeks. As long as it gets down to 70 or so at night - we can do without the AC.

We turned off the water heater at the end of July.
Bermuda is flooded and lots of people are without power but no injuries.
Let's see when Christobal forms and where he heads.

as there have been plenty of storms lasting more than 12 days...Arlene (1997?) was a tropical storm or better for 17 days...a hurricane for 14 of those days and had a total track from depression through dissipation of 18 days...
