Protest Bush in the Napa Valley TODAY

Here is the latest report.

Beginning just before 5:00 pm on Thursday, 7/17, we'll Live Highway blog* from the knoll below "The Crusher". It's at the intersection of Highways 29 & 121/221/Silverado Trail right in the path of aircraft landing at, and taking off from, Napa Airport. To the north is Napa Valley, to the east is Lake Berryessa. Honest, it's easier to find than it sounds.



Please be careful. You can turn around if you need to, but the nice CHP officers asked us not to run across the highway, even when the light's red. You can pull off the road on 121 past Napa College near the intersection, or take Soscol Ferry Road toward Villa Romano then follow Vista Point Drive up to the Crusher. Park, then hike down the hill.

We'll plant white Crosses4Peace in the grass along the highway joined by "War is NOT the Answer" yard signs provided by FCNL http://www.fcnl.org/index.htm. We'll hold a banner with a single message (to be voted on by www.DailyKos.com readers). Our nation's flag will fly at half-staff.

Once the President has flown over our initial location, we expect to caravan up-valley to the vicinity of the Frank Family Vineyards, located on Larkmead Lane -- which runs perpendicular to and between Hwy. 29 and Silverado Trail -- in Calistoga, as this is the presumed location of the fundraiser that Bush is here to attend, so that we can continue to convey our message to the public and to those attending this GOP fundraising event, either as they arrive, or leave, that we want an END TO THE MADNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

1. I was just out and about using expensive gas

There are NO PARKING signs along the Silverado Trail at Meadowood. Where ever else he might appear, it looks like Meadowood is on the itinerary again.

3. Just got back from Napa. Couldn't get too close to the chimp..(pics)

We went to the Frank Family Vineyards, but nobody was there at all. No sign of any activity.

We drove down the Silverado Trail and about ten miles down the road, there were CHP everywhere. We probably saw about 30 CHP cars and SUVs. We figured the chimp would be in this area since there were so many cops. We thought he would be coming up the Silverado Trail, so we parked on a turnout and got out with our one protest sign, and a drum. After about ten minutes we noticed the CHP had stopped traffic. The blockade was not too far back down the road in the direction we had come from.

We walked up to the CHP blockade and demanded that they let us pass so that the war criminals could see my protest sign. The CHP officer wasn't real keen on the idea, and blocked my way. We walked down the line of stopped cars with the sign, and talked it up with the stopped drivers about how some local fat cats had invited a bunch of war criminals to dinner.

Then we went back to the blockade to fuck with the CHP some more. Got a few shots of the chimp's motorcade when it finally showed up, I yelled my welcome and I flipped him the bird from some distance, and wondered if he saw my sign. After about another 10 minutes, they opened the road again, and we headed into Calistoga to eat Mexican food and soak in a hot tub.

I was at Central Valley when the traffic started backing up for his Sutter Home landing. I decided there was no way I could get close enough that he could see my sign so I crawled on home.

5. I protested him in Redding yesterday

It was actually more for the benefit of the good people of Redding, most of whom had never seen anything protected before, but we had a good time.
