Oh my God how hypocritical are they!? I mean, as long as it's democrats that are doing the lying it's fine, but when one of their own lies and gets caught, they flip out. Rush even said that the dude never lied. Um, he lied to the FBI. But that apparently is only wrong when it's about a blow job instead of the outing of a CIA agent and ruining her career.
Oh, I thought my head was going to pop today.
Anyone else catch the whine fest?!

1. You will enjoy this bit of prose from FIREDOGLAKE
http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/03/07/libby-trial-our-youtube-swan-song/

<snip>

Of course, now that Fitzgerald has proven his case, cue the right wing nut jobs who are already wearing hair shirts and bleating "free Scooter." Wells' sentimental bag o'bullshit about "poor Scooter" did work I suppose, because the jury had a lot of sympathy for him. But technically he's no fall guy, if the definition of such is " A gullible victim; a dupe." Scooter lied, he lied consciously, willingly and for the purpose of obstructing justice. The wingnuts simply prove that they are shameless athoritarian cultists who believe in nothing, certainly not the rule of law, who reflexively genuflect before anything that preserves their own power. It must be loaded into the DNA of their knee cartilige or something. They meaning of the words "obstruction of justice" certainly evades them, and people like Andy McCarthy who actually pretend to care ought to be ashamed of his cohorts at the National Review.

14. They have a long analysis here that is dead on -- "The Coverup Continues and Only We Can Stop It"

The Coverup Continues and Only We Can Stop It
By: Scarecrow

<snip>

Yesterday a jury of 11 of his peers convicted Scooter Libby of four felonies: giving false statements (lying) to the FBI, two counts of perjury (lying) before a federal Grand Jury and obstructing justice in the investigation into who disclosed the identity of a CIA agent. But the unamimous guilty verdicts by the jurors who actually heard the evidence did not matter to the Administration apologists who simply don’t care about the evidence. Unlike Iraq, where the Administration apparently has no “Plan B,” their supporters were ready with their response to the verdicts: control the media narrative, bury the obvious accountability moment, obscure the “cloud over Cheney,” and more important, discredit the legal process and manipulate the eventual outcome. The coverup is in still on.

Last night those predictable apologists ran to the news programs with a massive disinformation campaign, starting with Fox News declaring the jury was “hopelessly confused” but focusing more on how “unfair” it was to poor Scooter Libby. TRex’ late nite post reveals another example of the “poor Libby” theme carried out by the right wing. These were followed by similar attacks on the verdicts on CNN and MSNBC. The apologists were very clear about what they are trying to do. It is a sign of the arrogance and moral depravity of this regime and its supporters that they did this right in front of us.

8. Apparently Wilson is a PSYCHO and his wife wasn't undercover AT THE TIME....
So it's ok...and he never lied. He was telling the truth the entire time. Do they even pay attention anymore, or do they just make shit up all the time now? THis was a perjury case because Scooter lied under oath. It was never an issue that he was telling the truth except for the fact that they leaked National Security Info.

3. These people are now going to steal the courts. Bigotry driven.
Jurors are as bad as any hate target you can name if the defendent is also a hater.

Remind them of the pedophilia in Libby's novel.

9. You exactly right! They have been!
That is why they are so pissed off about Libby's conviction, because they have no way YET of throwing their lying sack of shit into a criminal courtroom proceeding without polluting the pool of future judges yet nominated.
Strange how federal prosecutors are getting fired with an attempt to replace one with an associate of Karl Rove.
These people ain't fucking around, they want total control of everything and I'm not fooling myself into thinking they will stop before they do.

21. Caught a glimpse of something by Palast that BBC is saying
Griffin, Rove's aide who withdrew his nomination for Attorney General in Arkansas (but gets to stay), is the key guy for the theft of votes. Have to go back and read up on that. Rove and his friend who replaced an honorable Attorney General bowed out of going before Congress.

They are going to plant their friends in Judgeships and then get rid of juries. They've already voiced their disdain for juries.

Crooked sheriffs, posse's, witch burnings, hangings - we're regressing right back to barbarians and proverbial club swinging neanderthals.

27. I remember hearing Griffin's reason
for removing his own nomination......I believe he said he felt that he would not get a fair hearing. I don't know how a fed prosecutor's appointment process works.
I'd like to have seen that BBC report.

5. Jail Bush & Cheney instead
That would suit me just fine. I am so disappointed in Patrick Fitzgerld. I'll bet Libby stays out of jail while his appeals are pending. Wanna bet Susan MacDougal(who refused to lie) will have wound up spending more time in jail than Scooter? No one is saying anything about how they made Valerie Plame suffer. This whole thing makes me sick.

11. All the ideologically blinded wingy thingies are running the same
con, today.
The take is that, since scooter was doing political things, he should be given a pass. When it's political, lying, cheating, treason, and even murder are O K, as long as the game is politics.
When questioned about the hysterical, hypocritical flipflopping in their stance between this trial, impeachment of the treasonous crooks and the impeachment of Bill Clinton, they insist that Clinton REALLY lied, since the story he told had no ostensible political significance.
This is the first time, or perhaps my own growth in the last decade or two is responsible for a different outlook, that I have ever been faced with such staggering delusion.
I have been reviewing the Clinton cocky cutup documents and the point has come to light, although it may be disproved (or maybe it's news only to me) with further investigation, but it seems that Clinton didn't actually lie. He betrayed peoples' belief in him and his in himself, perhaps, but, by the official definition, in the US government at that time, blow jobs were not sex. (Cultural adolescence and naivete can be an advantage)

When these glare blinded ideologues are presented with their obvious hypocrisy, they claim they didn't know that blow jobs weren't sex and, since they didn't know about it, it must not be true.
These insane bastards could swallow an elephant whole and convince themselves they are the virgin Mary and they are now pregnant, by gawd.

28. Loathing seems to be a common reaction of the reality
based community to that criminal cabal.

I have found myself willing to actually entertain a few somewhat generous thoughts about our "conservative" crooks. The one thing they appear to have started, may the FSM be praised, is their own downfall and a hopefully long period without such "loathable" goons.

And this ditto head mentally challenged loser followers were calling in asslicking about it. He's still bitter. The man just needs to look inside and realize that HE and his BUDDIES are what is wrong with this country.
Oh and he said that the WORLD has a better standard of living because of us. WHAT?! So, apparently the people on the other side of the world are more important than the people who live RIGHT HERE, pay taxes, and CARRRY THEIR WATER. They can give billions so that Iraqis can live better, but what about the people in THIS COUNTRY?! It's ok that there are people living on the street in the WEALTHIEST nation in the world, but since there are people in Iraq that don't have to sleep in the dirt anymore, we're a great country?! BULLFUCKINGSHIT. Nothing pisses me off more than this.

22. Read What Hannity et al. Said About Perjury/Obstruction Under Clinton
CAN THE TALKING HEADS TALK THEIR WAY OUT OF THIS?

Sean Hannity – "Welcome back to HANNITY & COLMES. I'm Sean Hannity...Congresswoman, I want to go back to you. You know, I'm -- if I hear that one more time, I'm going to go nuts, that it doesn't rise to the level of an impeachable offense because perjury and lying under oath has played a central role in the four most recent cases of impeachment."

Sean Hannity – "Certainly, perjury is a felony, the last time I checked."

Former RNC Spokesman/ CNN Contributor Cliff May: "Bribery and perjury are equivalent crimes."

Former RNC Spokesman/ CNN Contributor Cliff May: "The problem is if he committed perjury; if he lied under oath; if he obstructed justice; if he tampered with witnesses, these are real crimes."

Bill O'Reilly – "He used government employees, Blumenthal and the rest of the White House counsels, Begala, Lewis, all of these people, to promote an untruth, to promote a perjury, and I believe that's abuse of power. I think that's where he's most shaky...Because you and I are paying for him. You and I are paying for that, and those people are going out there not only saying that President Clinton is innocent but attacking the federal prosecutor, attacking the justice system. That looks to be abuse of power to me."

Bill O'Reilly –"... that a president of the United States using government officials paid for by you and me and everybody watching this program to protect a perjury is a high crime."

George Will –"If this is not a ground for impeachment ... then we're disregarding the pedigree of the phrase 'high crimes and misdemeanors'."

Ann Coulter – "Perjury? I think perjury's pretty important."

Ann Coulter – "This is obstruction of justice, perjury, and false statements. This is completely a different matter now. It is much higher, much higher level, much bigger deal."

Fred Barnes – "t's going to be hard not to impeach the president for perjury."

Bill Kristol – In response to a question as to whether perjury was a grave enough crime to remove Clinton from office, Kristol responded "Yes, I think so. Perjury under oath."
